Ok so people who are doing John Monash next year. So sigmas, I had like 3 people from my school do it, including me. Overall, I found the testing easy but my time management skills were bad, which puts me in the endangered zone. I did the morning session at John Monash.
Science reasoning
DO MANY ICAS PAPERS AS POSSIBLE! TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! You just need to like basic science knowledge, but work on your analytical skills gang. Trust me, you”ll have enough time to complete all of the questions. I had like 5 minutes left. Personally, I found it mid, cuz I'm a bit dumb but I predict a lot. So……yeah 😭
Numerical reasoning
This one is easy as hell. Especially if you did selective entry, this one is easy. BUT I RECOMMEND WORKING ON YOUR TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS. I guessed like 10 questions 💔. There was like a lot of number patterns on the test, which was easy.
Maths
Same as NR. I guessed like 5 questions at the end because of time. It was easy as hell. There was a lot of angle and linear questions. A few parobolas. But gang work on your mental maths. It helps a lot for the few questions.
Science report
You do not need to write method, materials and draw a table of results/ graph. It’s already on the sheet of information. Use a lot of scientific words, that's what I did. And yeah, AND PRACTICE YOUR DISCUSSION. THATS WHERE EVERYONE CRASHES OUT. I crashed out in the last five minutes and ended up writing the conclusion and discussion. My second disuccion paragraphs was bad, so I'm cooked. The report was about ‘investigating the effect of soil type on water retention’ (I forgot).
Science interest and communication
They gave us a page of info and we had to write about antibiotic resistance. Same the report. Use the big science words and manage your time wisely.
What I used to study:
-bunch of yt videos on the topics I didn't understand
-resources from my tuitions
-those free stuff from the google drives (bless you whoever did that ♥️🎀)
Lock in 2027 and the future cohort. You guys got this. I'm certain I won’t get in, but it is fine. 😭😔😐
