subject selection advice??

hi!! yr 11 subject selection is coming up and honestly i have no clue what to do for anything. i have two subjects i'm defo doing (lit and legal studies 3&4) and...that's it.
i'm interested in a lot of subjects (economics, religions and societies, japanese, text and traditions, philosophy, extended investigation, revolutions, empires, ancient history, geography, theatre studies and psychology) and i sorta have an idea of doing either law or journalism??
either way, i want a high atar (somewhere in the 80s and maybe 90s if we're stretching it) and maybe studying overseas?? as you can tell, i'm kind of stuck. any advice would help a bunch.

velvet Hi There! I haven't reached the VCE years yet, but I will do my best to provide any advice! You have a HUGE number of subjects that you're interested in, which is good! The fact that you already have a goal in mind if also good! (Being Law or Journalism). Something I find interesting is the strong number of Humanities Subjects on your list! This could help with Journalism since history would allow you to understand perspectives, which is what being a good Journalist is. Choosing what History Subject is a bit more difficult. Do you like learning about a specific era? (example: 1800s). I would choose Empires for 1/2 and Revolutions for 3/4. The reason why I say this is because if you ever seek a profession in Journalism, you may have to talk about war (which is happening quite a lot in the world). This would allow you to make connections with your knowledge about how people fought for independence or suffered under rulers. These subjects would allow you to 'connect' with how people are feeling during the war, which you might do if you ever have to do Journalism overseas. Doing a language for VCE is a good way to get a good ATAR score! If you have a strong knowledge in Japanese, then I recommend doing Japanese! It might also come handy if you go to Japan to study or do Journalism! Another Subject that will help with your future job/career is Extended Investigation. The subject is about researching on a university level, which I strongly believe that Extended Investigation would help you! The Final subject I would choose is Philosophy. If you decide to pursue law, Philosophy will help you a lot. This would help as it would allow you to understand philosophical questions and allow you to think about questions more deeply.
