How to get into JMSS

So, I've read a lot of posts on how to get into JMSS but they were kinda broad, and I'd like a nice listed breakdown. So, what I've heard to do is:

ICAS Papers
Year 9 and basic 10 Maths and Science
Focus a lot on how to write scientifically

But I have some questions:

What should I focus on in year 9 and year 10 basic math and science? What are the key topics?

Also, will there mainly be word problems or numerical?

FYI: I'm in year 8, wanting to join in year 9

mainly numerical and just get a textbook and revise all year nine topics and some year ten topics like circle theorems, etc.

to get into jmss u have to pass the test and the interveiw but if u r a tru sigma like me😈🥵 then u can just skip the whole process and get in fr

tbh the maths test was actually pretty easy. i’d honestly just say time urself and make sure u don’t make silly mistakes, cause fr like most ppl would ace it if they just had more time. what i’d recommend is going through yr 9 maths textbooks and maybe even yr 10, but like personally i didn’t find yr 10 that useful. for science tho i’d 100% say practice application-type questions, like ones where u actually have to think logically. a lot of ppl say it’s kinda like icas science but in mine it was only sorta like that. i do think icas science helps a bit, but tbh i’d prob say do some icas maths papers too – i feel like they’ll help u more than the science ones (just my opinion tho, idk for sure).

writing wise, literally just write good💀 like there’s not that much else to it but MAKE SURE YOU READ THE PROMPT AND FOLLOW THE STRUCTURE THAT THEY GIVE U. anyways i’d HIGHLY recommend that in ur free time u don’t just scroll or play fn or smthn – like watch interesting science and maths vids instead (creators like kurzgesagt (my fav for science u shud watch the immune side of it its really good), veritasium, vsauce etc). those are actually amazing and i swear they help a lot, esp for science writing when u gotta do those communicative pieces as they give you so much idea and depth that you can talk about.
