Is it worth to do Selective schools after year 9?

I did jmss yr 9 and im probably not gonna get in my plan was to try out for ebss and jmss next yr but my friend says there is not point after yr 10 but its yr 11 and 12 that really matter so idk and apparently this yr was the last yr for yr 11 jmss is that true they said that subject changing is really hard so idk.

Beta depends on the school you're currently at. if its a really terrible school that has bad teachers and doesn't offer some vce subjects then yeah trying out is definitely worth it. however if you're at a good or even an okay school then i would say its a waste of time, the aim at the end of the day is to do well in vce not a selective school exam
