Beta Yeah just doing icas and studying the curriculum should be fine. Also just develop extracurriculars on the side. If you really want to be certain you do well on the exam (besides just studying through textbooks) you can also extend yourself by trying stuff from like JSO (junior science olympiad). Altho this might be a bit overkill, the skills you'll learn from it/content will be extremely useful for vce, plus you could out it on ur cv if you do the actual exam next year and do well (altho I'm not sure if they release the results early enough). Your extracurriculars don't have to be insane, and tbh I put some pretty niche stuff, such as like drawing for mindfulness. Altho it might be useful getting some extracurriculars that you could also use for med application, like debating. Overall, just going through a textbook should be fine, just be smart about how you study and make sure you do practice questions from the textbook.
