Hi all,
I've recently been selected to double accelerated in the three subjects they offer at my school. This means I will be completing my units 1&2 in year 9 (year 11 equivalent) and units 3&4 in year 10 (year 12 equivalent) if I continue from units 1&2.
The three options are:
- General Maths
- Environmental Sciences
- Legal Studies
I'm hoping for a career in some kind of IT engineering or computer sciences and I'm quite strong in maths. However, as we only get 4 main and a total of 6 subjects, including the 5th and 6th which count only 10% towards our ATAR for VCE, I feel that picking general maths right now would be a waste if I then do Methods (definitely) and/or Specialist (unsure). Another factor is that it scales down, but it should balance if I get a high mark as 73% of double GM accelerants get a study score of 40+/50. Environmental science sounds interesting however I don't know if I'd be any good at it, though I was selected.
I plan on taking Chemistry as a single acceleration in years 10-11 as well, so that should cover my science for any prerequisites. I also intend on taking French and Physics later on. One English subject is compulsory as well.
I'm really confused with what I should do. I know if I want I could drop a subject after units 1&2 but it feels like throwing away hard work. Any ideas on what I should do? I'm in Year 8 currently btw........
