Hi ATARNotes, I'm a recent grad and I'm currently in the early research phase for a potential project. I'm trying to solve a study problem I really struggled with and would be incredibly grateful for this community's advice.
I'm not selling anything and there is no product yet, this isn't self-promotion. I'm just trying to learn from your experiences to see if this is a problem worth solving.
Think about the last SAC or practice exam you got back. Was the feedback (e.g., "show working," "needs more detail") specific enough to know exactly what to do differently next time, or was it too vague?? If not specific, what was missing?
When you're stuck on a practice question, what's your usual process for figuring out your mistake? (e.g., check the answer key, ask a friend, wait for class)?
Imagine an app that could scan your handwritten practice SAC/Exam. Instead of just giving you the right answer, it analyses your response and tells you (for example): 'You consistently confuse the roles of the anode and cathode when writing half-equations for galvanic cells. Here are 5 VCAA style questions to target this!'
How useful would this be on a scale of 1-10?
What subject would you use this app for MOST?
The core idea is to then generate personalised practice questions + analytics targeting your specific weak spots (e.g., if you keep messing up the quotient rule, it gives you 3 new questions on it).
Does that feel more valuable than just re-doing a whole, generic practice test?
What's the one thing that would make you tell your friends, "You have to download this app"?
Thanks a ton! Your input is essential to building something that can genuinely help future VCE students.
P.S If you'd be open to a quick 10 minute chat about this idea, please feel free to DM me!
