LAW1111 'Foundies/FOL'

I was slammed with pages and pages and pages of readings every week and it is a lot of effort to not only understand what you're reading, but to be able to process (and memorise, to some degree) what you've read. Classes only serve as content review ('flipped' teaching model). I was so glad my classes weren't in the morning or at the start of the week, otherwise I'd never be able to catch up with readings. I'd come to uni at 9am and do the week's readings, and then I completely break down after the last FOL class of the week and pick up the glass shards containing my dwindling motivation to pass criminal law 1 off the floor (even though I really wanted to spend a lot of time on criminal law).
I did get away from this daunting experience with new friends I made in class and my lecturer was so nice lol. Although the lecturer who marked my essay was not so nice. They said I couldn't write in first person because it's not 'academic' even though my own lecturer said it was ok and even though the sem 2 chief examiner for public law (who held a first years' essay seminar) also said it was ok.

Has a decent amount of readings compared to FOL and I completely underestimated the complexity of the subject because tutorials were removed for this semester. As a result of the decision made last year to remove law tutorials as a 'trial', I only had 2 hours per week of teaching from the faculty. They've since sent out a letter saying they will reinstate tutorials at the start of next semester, but I still find it contrived.
LSS tutorials and PASS were a lifesaver and the student who ran the LSS tutorials was so kind and knowledgable <3.
Please keep in mind that content taught in crim can be traumatising. Some of these cases, that happen to be key cases that you really need to use in your essay, are wild(TM). Take care of your mental health and make sure you have an adequate support system before you apply to law schools. You can even talk to your FOL lecturer (like I did lol).
***This is only crim law 1, there's a crim law and procedure 2 subject I'm supposed to do in Year 3 Sem 1.

Would not recommend. I had 1 group assignment per law unit. I kept on getting taken advantage of because I would always do more than my partners and then they think they can make me do everything else lol
