i was gonna say this earlier but didnt have time but here's what englang's abt
essentially englang is analysis of language so ur watching news and politics (shoutout to pauline hanson and fatima payman!) and analyse why they're saying what they're saying.
say yk the kfc flg slogan, u can say they're using rhyming, initialisms, etc etc to achieve the purpose of creating a memorable slogan that helps consumers remember them and want to go there that kind of thing.
generally in the exam there's short answer questions, analytical commentary (AC), and essay.
SAQ is based on a text and its like u answer the questions usually some shorter ones like identifying purposes, specific lang features and stuff, and some longer 5-6 marks which discuss various features in relation to a purpose or function or smth
AC is a diff text, usually 1.5-2 pages, and u analyse anything and everything, with 1 intro and as many body paragraphs as u want, i usually do 3, and no conclusion! a bit like argument analysis in normal english
essay is usually more broad, u get two or three prompts, and stimulus, which u use at least once in the essay. then u have to have an example bank of quotes u collect throughout the yr that's contemporary australian stuff, so stuff from the news, social media, etc that u can analyse and say this shows how say idk informality helps achieve x function kinda thing.
so yeah that's essentially englang but it's my worst subject tho i think it's still more interesting than mainstream
