Ronaldo I believe the other ANers wanted to beat the forum record, which was 227 before a mod posts.
Ronaldo It’s not just up to me. There is a process to apply to be a mod. Please read the mod application thread, the forum rules and the mod team leadership thread from the archives to get a better idea of what being a mod entails.
Mod applications are usually in November each year but we haven’t hosted any since moving to the current discussion forum (July 2022). You usually fill out a form and the leadership team (mods/ admins) then decide if they want you as a mod behind the scenes. Mods are primarily voluntary, so they aren’t paid, which many people don’t realise. They maintain peace on the forum (e.g. resolve fights between users, ban bots and trolls, remove spam and copyrighted materials, take action when a user is clearly in distress), being helpful across the forum, create a larger and safer community by increasing awareness of the forum (e.g. hosting events like Q&As, figure out ways to draw more students in) and/ or contribute to resources (e.g. write articles/ reviews). We usually look for people who are already genuinely helpful on the forum (e.g. helping other ANers out where you can, trying to create a friendlier community, flagging inappropriate posts), so if you’re serious about modship, I’d begin there. 🙂
Oh and 0.
