Hello there,
I just came across this dot point on the SD for Chemistry 1/2, it said "the relative isotopic masses of elements and their representation on the relative mass scale using the carbon-12 isotope as the standard; reason for the selection of carbon-12 as the standard". Can someone please give me the reason for why C-12 is selected as the standard?

Kind regards

NG900 This definition of the mole is actually outdated as of 2019. Nowadays the mole is purely defined in terms of the Avogadro constant. The reason why they changed from an oxygen standard to a carbon one in the 60s is cuz carbon easier to quantify since it’s a solid
