Hey guys I have a question for you on behalf of my friend who wants to apply for Curtin med this year
Do you remember what quartile you got for CASPER to get the interview?
He qualifies for Step-Up as well in case you need that information too
Arcadia i got 3rd quartile and with step up my atar became 99.95

Thanks for the info if you don't mind could you also share what you did to prepare for the Curtin interview.
Im not sure if my strategies and advice will help my friend cos I went to the UWA interview and not for Curtin
Arcadia
no worries, i basically just bought the medify and medentry packages to prepare. i only prepared about 10 days before the interview (shocker: not enough time) and i also booked medentry's customised curtin mock interview i think 3 days before the actual thing. i tried completing the online course, but i didn't have enough time; i watched model answers and wrote down something i would have said.
i watched a lot of videos on acing mmi interviews, namely laura beaumont, kharma medic, and emil eddy ucat. they helped me gain a wide understanding of how different areas/countries conduct this type of interview. the mock interview from medentry also helped quite a bit as it allowed me to practice answering mock questions, it showed other people answering the questions, and the interviewers gave actual feedback (numerical and overall performance/tips). they mark a bit harsh/use complex situations which prepares you better for the actual thing.
i also signed up on medstudentsonline to familiarise myself with experiences of past interviewees and learned the dress code suitable for curtin (business attire).
something else i also did for medify training was watch the sample video answers, realise their faults and strengths, and recorded myself responding to these questions. sometimes i took too long so i tried redoing the videos to make sure i spoke at a good pace, appeared confident, and ultimately tried making my answer a lot more concise.
in the end this is what worked for me, and the experience is different for everyone
Hey guys,
I've been reading your conversation for the past few days now and I really want to congratulate everyone for their results and their hardwork (even though it's very late). I'm in yr 11 right now and i really want to do medicine in the future as well. My grades right now aren't that good and I wanted to know what were your final averages for yr 12 for each subject. I also wanted to know if there were any study techniques that helped you guys a lot with tests and exam and stuff. I know that you guys might not respond, but would greatly appreciate any advice that anyone has.
heyyyy Arcadia here
So unfortunately I did not get into medicine last year and I chose to take a gap year to retry one more time.
It's been pretty chill so far and I've just finished with UCAT and the CASPER test. I'm also redoing WACE exams this year too to hopefully raise to 99+ for Curtin as I don't have Stepup
Last year I got an ATAR of 98 and my final school marks for spec, methods, physics and lit were 77, 82, 68, 84
How did you manage to get a 84 in lit ? I was getting average marks in lit at the beginning of the year, but after my teacher left and a new one replaced him, my scores have been dropping reeeaallllyy low. I have no idea whether its because I've been slacking off or if its because of the new teacher.
Hopefully, you'll get into medicine this year!!!!!
An update: I got in!!!
Will be studying assured pathway to medicine next year at UWA. So excited
