Hi everyone. So, I am a Year 11 going into Year 12. I need to decide my subjects by Christmas (my school does subject selection very late).
This year I completed Japanese Second Language 3/4, Biology 3/4, Australian Global Politics 1/2, Legal Studies 1/2, Geography 1/2, Modern History 1/2, General Maths 1/2, and of course English 1/2.
I can only do four subjects (excluding English) in year 12, and I am not sure which to drop.
As you can probably tell by my previous subject selection, I excel mostly in English and Humanities subjects, however I also do well in Maths and Science subjects.
I am a very academic student, and have good study habits so I am not too stressed about the work load.
Also, I should say that my course I want to get into does not require any maths or science subjects (Monash - Law/Arts)
So, which subject should I drop in your opinion? Thanks
Subject Selection
I feel like no one can really just choose one subject for you to drop without any extra information
I think when choosing subjects you should be thinking about a few things:
- Is this a subject I enjoy? Will studying for it be interesting to you or will it be something you don't look forward to?
- Is this a subject I can score well in? (this does not mean it scales up since that just standardises each subject so they are comparable)
- Is my background knowledge in this subject good (this would be moreso for things like math since foundational understanding is important whereas most other subjects this doesn't matter too much.
Do you have any specific thoughts on what subjects you may want to keep/drop?
- Edited
Thank you, that really helps.
The subject I least enjoyed, and scored the worst in was General Maths.
So I will probably just won't do Maths.
Currently, I reckon its between Maths (for the above reasons) and Modern History (since I've heard its very content heavy, and found it a bit boring memorising dates and stuff).
Once again, thanks. You have really narrowed down the field.
