Arielle’s whirlwind through year 10

Hey everyone!

With just under a week left until school, I thought that I might start my VCE journal! It's so crazy that I'm already in year 10! Time flies fast! So anyway, I will be doing year 10 French, VCE psych units 1&2, and all your other regular subjects (humanities English etc.)

I did psych 1&2 when I was in Year 10 as well and I loved it! I hope you do too.

I'm doing psych now at uni and some of the stuff I learnt in 1&2 psych really stuck with me. We've got a plethora of resources here on AN, so if you need any help with psych, the forum is here for you!

So, the first week is officially over!

So an update:
French - we just went over some irregular verbs, little bit of revision of the past tense.
Maths - we did a pre-test for Algebra, and got assigned some homework, which I completed so happy that I got that done.
English - discussed Shakespeare, and started to read Midsummer's Night Dream
Humanities - Looked into human rights and WW2.
Psych - I skipped unit 1 at school, but still studying at home. Though from what I've seen and heard, the psych students watched Mary Ainsworth's "Strange Situation", and they analysed some case about a criminal and it was describing his mental health.

Alright I think that's all. I will give an update next week 😀

Hello everyone! So sorry, I was meaning to update this diary, but just couldn’t find the time!

So anyway, here’s is a double update!

2nd week (from what I can remember):
Hums - we did questions about WW2 and Japanese war,
English - My teacher would get us to act out A Midsummers night dream, and we've looked into the themes, and we had to write a paragraph about each one and find quotes supporting our points
French - we read a scenario, and we had to answer questions in the past, we also had a refresh of using interrogatives
Maths - we did another chapter on algebra - multiplying and dividing fractions
Psych - not really sure what the class did

The past week:

Hums - Preparing for a source analysis task
English - We watched the play of A Midsummer’s Night Dream, well not to the end, (that’s for homework)
And soon we will have I think a mini essay
French - Got a task on negatives in the past tense (passé composé), and a seperate one on Education Perfect
And we have to read an article about where is better to live; France or Province, and answer questions on that
Our teacher said that soon we may have a test. And, the thing is she hasn’t been here for like a week or so, and we’ve had replacements that DON’T speak French. So it’s not a fun situation 😭
Maths - gosh so much work for this! I have 2 chapters to do, and they have SO MANY questions + we have a test in like a bit more than a week 😭
Psych - again, not really sure what they did.

This week's update:

So, this week looked a little bit different. So, the juniors went on camp and the seniors had a wellbeing program that went for 3 days. It was pretty boring. 🤣 For me, it was mainly just a 3-day break from academics. So, with that in mind, the homework and what we did for 2 days:

Hums: We got into groups and did research on battles during WW2. And, today we presented them. If i'm correct, we have a source analysis assessment next week.
English: We have in a couple weeks we have an assessment; a close analysis of an extract of a Midsummer Night's Dream. and the homework is to write down the literary devices: their definitions, why they are used and examples from the text.
French: Yeah, had not a single class this week, sadly. I have some questions to answer on the negatives, and that article - yes never got to that
Maths: 1 chapter for Algebra left to do, we also have our test in 6 days. Our teacher extended it so really happy about that.
Psych: I hear they doing attachment types, and looking into Piaget's theory of Cognitive Development

Ooh jolly gosh! How long has it been since I've posted?! Like forever...?! 😂😂

I'll try to summarise what did happen over like half a year, but lol I can only remember...we had crazy prep for sem 1 exams (at the end of term 2) and my results from that...

So for French I got an A, for hums I got a B+, english argument analysis - A, maths didn't do that well, but some kids did worse...

Either way that's the end of sem 1.

Now Sem 2 my subjects only change from hums to finally psych! Woohoo!

Summary of what ive been up to:

Maths: well just financial maths really, and the plan is that there will be test next week.

English: we are reading a novel called "Foreign Soil", and um my teacher announced today that we are having an oral assessment exactly next week 🙁 however it isn't that bad for me as i'm the person that zooms into words and just tries to find literary devices 😆 the teacher assigned the roles btw so 🙂

French: we've looked into a new tense: "L'imparfait" - another past tense, different to passé composé
and our assessment task for the unit is just an oral assessment, talking about how life was back in time of grandparents that kind of thing.

Psych (woohhoo finally!)
well looked into first impressions, types of powers: (reward, coercive expert etc) different biases,
and yeah, we have an assessment on Thursday, and we are analysing scenes from Mean Girls.

I think that's about it... oh wait no! TIme for subject selections for next year!

The Plan:
Psych 3/4
English OR English Language 1/2
French 1/2
Media 1/2

I really want to do eng Lang, but my school doesn't offer it, so um, I'd have to do it through VSV, but that's if the principal approves it... So I'll have to see.

Otherwise, I think thats all from me! i will try to update this again (whenever i find time) haahha
