Hi, I started Latin in year 7 and I'm currently in year 11. Personally I think it's probably doable. I feel like up to year 10 a lot of my classmates were just doing it because languages are compulsory. You have to put in a lot of work tho. And definitely don't do it just for the scale because if you do bad in it the scale isn't going to do anything. I think doing distance ed would not work for me and I know a lot of students who do this don't end up doing very well. But if you think you will be able to manage learning a language without a face-to-face teacher then you should go for it.
