Help...Failed unit 3 sacs??

Hi I'm a year 12,
If I'm being honest I haven't been doing well at all this year, I 'failed', as in got below 40%, for all my sacs for all my subjects so far. I had a burnout at the end of last year and it's followed through to this year. I'm struggling with procrastination and pulling my self together honestly.
After doing terrible in two sacs for all my subjects I had a talk with my teacher and she said that as long as I improve and do well in the end of the year I'll be fine.
Now this made me feel better but today I failed my last unit 3 sac for economics. I basically did horrible on all of unit 3 for economics, I told myself I'll do well after doing so bad in the first two and now I'm so scared.
I know the end of year exam for economics is worth 50% so if manage to pull myself together and do well for unit 4 and the end of year exam will be able to get at least like a raw score of 30-32 for eco?

Let’s address two things here:

You will need to talk to your teachers and go through questions you’ve gone wrong in SACs and why. Identify any patterns or gaps in knowledge and review those. Typically there are two main categories for why you get questions wrong:
(a) content-based issues e.g. not knowing/ misunderstanding content, applying content incorrectly, or making silly mistakes
(b) performance-based issues e.g. test anxiety, not preparing enough from burnout/ procrastination, writing too much fluff and/or running out of time
If you can identify and address the issue(s), you’ll be well on your way to getting higher marks.
With burnout and procrastination, find something that will motivate you to study (rather than simply “I need to do well”) and chip at the work a little at a time. Perhaps you need to switch up your study technique, or need to change your goals to more short term achievable ones e.g. I need to get 60% for my next economics SAC and I will revise chapter 3 over the next 3 nights. Some possible study techniques and tricks you could try:
a. Pomodoro method: if you’re self-disciplined, search this up and it will help get regular blocks of study done.
b. study buddies: if you aren’t disciplined, get a study buddy who will help you focus and ideally, doing the same class(es) as you.
c. teach others the content: if you know your content but not sure how much you know, pretend to teach someone else about it. They or you might identify gaps in your knowledge.
d. deliberately start a task (e.g. start some practise questions) at the end of the day: This is a trick to beat procrastination. If you are terrible at starting things but great at finishing them, start something new before the day ends. That overcomes the hurdle to start a task and makes the task smaller and more manageable later. Remember to start this as soon as you receive it and to return to finish the rest of it later though, as this tip doesn’t work when things are due the next day.
e. go over the study design: SACs are based on the dot points in the study design. Use that to your advantage.
f. ask for practise SACs/ exams: your teacher should be able to help find you practise questions. Otherwise, try resources like Checkpoints. This is best for when you have performance-based issues, but also helps to know how to structure your answers. Don’t forget to correct these, or if you have eager teachers, ask for their advice and corrections.

Everyone operates differently so you’ll need to find what works best for you! Hope that helps! 🙂

I also struggled with my SACs and being burnt out since the end of year 11. Everything felt so fast paced and I felt like I couldn’t keep up.

I failed one of my 3 SACs of EAL and I lost most of my motivation in trying to achieve a 90 ATAR. I’m doing well averaging high 80s and low 90s in my other subjects but I really felt disappointed when I saw my EAL SAC score. I had two teachers leave the school in the middle of the school year so getting to know the new teachers were a struggle for me. They barely care and one couldn’t even provide me with a support I needed.

What I found helpful was to stop dwelling on the past. I knew that EAL is an important subject in my top4s so I have to really work hard for it. I started to look for other tutors for my EAL subject since my teacher wasn’t much help. My mum also gave me a goal which played a part of my motivation to get a 90 ATAR.

Find something that motivates you and please take breaks. Don’t stress too much and work hard for your exams which will matter much more. Hopefully this helps you!

I don’t know much about economics but I think if you can aim for a high 70s and high 80s in your unit 4 and exams. I think a 30 ss would be achievable.
