How do you study for SOR1 trials?
SOR1
ebonello hey, what works well for me is creating linking tables for the content with a column for:
area of study (e.g., bioethics for Islam)
A lived expression example (e.g., an example of how a particular bioethical teaching is lived out irl)
Supporting quotations from scripture
An explanation of how lived expression demonstrates relevance to area of study
This isn't tabulated, but it'd look something like this:
Bioethics – Euthanasia/Voluntary Assisted Dying
Response to Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation (Nov 2017) in Victoria by Islamic Council of Victoria classifies Voluntary Assisted dying as haram and “calls upon the Victorian government to increase funding for end of life and palliative care...”.
“It is Allah who gives you life then gives you death; then he will gather you together for the day of Judgement about which there is no doubt” (Quran 45:26)
“Whoever commits suicide with something will be punished with the same thing in the [hell] fire.” (Bukhari 78:647)
Bioethical teachings are informed by the principal Islamic sacred texts (Quran and the Sunnah) and Shariah, which guide adherents in the submission of Allah via leading them on the ‘right path’/Jannah in Akhirah. The Islamic perspective of euthanasia/voluntary assisted death as haraam (as represented in the Islamic Council of Victoria’s response to Victorian VAD legislation in 2017) as it defies the foremost basic right of humans which is the right to live. This is based upon the concept of sanctity of human life; Allah is the authoritative figure who decides between issues of life and death as it is a sacred gift he provided (Quran 45:26) and only he can revoke. Additionally, it is believed that Allah does not burden adherents with more than they can bear, thus encouraging the virtue of patience which may lead to the forgiveness of sins on Judgement Day. Therefore, as euthanasia/VAD is seen as suicide (Bukhari 78:647), it defies Allah’s will and exhibits a failure of submission to him which may result in confinement in Jahannam.

My school virtually makes us complete one of these alongside each assessment task and they've been super helpful (albeit a bit tedious to complete)! This basically outlines the formula for getting full marks in a 5 marker short answer (or a killer TEE in an essay paragraph). Then I'd go about memorising the sacred text/scripture quotations and make them as versatile as you can for each topic to limit the amount you need to rote learn. This is so important as you HAVE to have judicious evidence from sacred texts in order to do well in SOR 1. Many use flashcards for this, but I personally use the 'look, cover, write, check' method with each quote and can easily memorise 12+ quotes in an afternoon. Do what works best for you! Also aim to answer a few short answer and essay questions to see where the gaps in your knowledge are before trials and to practice exam technique, but honestly you'll have done all the heavy lifting by completing the aforementioned linking tables so it should be a breeze!
Good luck and hope this helped
it did omg, thank you!!!!!
Hi can anyone help me with my ethics (bioethics) response for chrstianity and mark it? It is out of 6
Explain ethical teaching in christinity
Ethics procide a guide for chrisitians so that their daily living reflects scriptural principles of faith. They belive that human are created in the image of god and their lives should be chersished s genesis 1:27 states " in the image of god he created them" . This refers to the ethical teaching of sanctity of human life, in regards to abortion nd Euthanasia.n This iisue of abortion is opposed in most denominations. For eg Catholics believe that it a human life shoudl not be terminated in any circumstance. although uniting church belive that if mothers life is in danger or the feotus is suffering one can undergo the procedure. The taking of humn life should not be taken into own hands as god states in duetoronomy "I kill and i make alive" if adherents take desicsioon into own hnads they violate the divine soverieghnty. This is lso in regards to the ethicl issue of euthanasia as it violates the princople pf double effect : do no evil" as no good will come out of this act. Focus on gods will will help christina adherents mirror Jesus's actions and principles while focus on ethical teachings.
Pls help i dont even know wtf im doing I would be really grateful if nyone could give me some feedbck on wht to add and how i can get a 6 for this response.
Remember to take breaks and practice self-care to avoid that's not my neighbor burnout during your study sessions. Good luck with your SOR1 trials!
Preparing for SOP 1 requires a structured approach and responsibility. Plan out your study schedule leading up to the trials. Allocate specific times for studying each topic igrofresh review sessions, and practice exams. Be realistic about how much time you can dedicate each day.
Create or use existing flashcards to test your knowledge on key terms and concepts. Quizlet has a variety of flashcards for SOR1 trials https://quizlet.com/au/816513157/sor1-trials-flash-cards/ space waves
Okay, prepping for SOR1 trials is tough! I found flashcards incredibly helpful for memorization. Also, practice questions under timed conditions. To make studying more engaging, try turning concepts into a silly game! It's like bad parenting , but with legal definitions instead of childcare! Makes remembering easier. Anyone else have memorization tricks? Good luck everyone!
