Casper Test Admission for Undergraduate Medicine

I've heard that the Casper test is used for entry into undergraduate medicine for some universities, does anyone know which ones (I know about University of Wollongong but couldn't find any others online, but I've heard that Curtin requires it)? And how hard is it compared to UCAT?

Ash I did the Casper for undergrad teaching admission (no prep), got 50-75th percentile which is good enough for admission for teaching degrees. This is in spite the fact that I’m autistic so I’m supposed to have limited emotional intelligence. It’s very difficult to gather your thoughts and type everything down in the limited time, as long as you put something down for all questions, you’ll be alright, although I don’t know what percentile is a pass for the undergrad med version of the test. The time pressure is even worse for video responses where you have to film an 1 minute response of you verbally responding to the prompt, I was um-img and ah-ing the entire time

Turns out you have to do it for Curtin (my first preference) which is annoying

I think Curtin is the only uni that you have to sit it for undergraduate medicine, but there are more for postgraduate medicine (and I will deal with that if I need to)

Hey @Ash Curtin is first preference for me as well. So far that's the only university I know of that required Casper. Do you know anything about how to prepare? I heard a person say you don't need any preparation, but online it says you need 2 months of preparation!

As you said earlier, there is very limited info on this 🙁

same!! curtin is my first preference and i can't find anything on casper. at the curtin open day i was told that our chance to get an interview was based on 3 factors:
35% atar
35% casper test
30% ucat
so the casper is literally as IMPORTANT as your atar. its crazy bc not much resources can be found online, but everyone i've talked to says to just try to socialise with people more and maybe expose yourself to situations where you need to empathise/provide solutions/fix things up between people.

if anyone finds any other resources please let me know; i havent even booked for it yet :/

Hey for Undergraduate Medicine, Casper is only needed for Curtin as of right now. It is also used for Postgraduate Medicine at Wollongong and Notre Dame. I completed the Casper for Postgraduate Medicine at Notre Dame last month and got my results back yesterday. I received the 4th quartile (top quartile 75th - 100th percentile) and did barely any practice. Most of the content is self-explanatory and as long as you have a balanced viewpoint and are empathetic, you should do fine. In saying that, once you register, there are a few practice tests on the Casper website which is quite representative of the real exam, and highly recommend increasing your typing speed as the Writing Section is very time pressured so having a high typing speed will help you out.

Oh okay, thank you so much! Also, I am a bit confused about Notre Dame, is there a guaranteed/provisional entry for Notre Dame medicine (for school leavers)? I can't find it on their website, it only has postgraduate medicine, so is there no option to do medicine at Notre Dame as an undergraduate?

doe Hey. They are starting Provisional Entry for Notre Dame Medicine for 2024 entry! You will do the Bachelor of Biomedical Science and it's called the Assured Pathway. It looks like it only requires UCAT and ATAR and Interview but there isn't a significant amount of detail regarding the weightings etc as it is a new program.

juliarobertsxxx Given it their first year theres not much information about cut offs or minimum requirements. I would assume minimum of 90 ish like most of the other med unis but realistically a much higher atar to be competitive (though may be slightly lower since not many ppl know about this new pathways existence)

ThunderDragon makes sense. i tried researching on it and i found that it's only available in the Sydney Notre Dame - do you know if WA does it?

juliarobertsxxx Only Sydney one does it. The WA one has a priority pathway which I think gives you a slightly better chance of getting into their postgrad but it is NOT provisional or guaranteed unlike the Sydney one.
