Year 11 subject selection recommendations

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if my subject selections were looking good so far but I admit I'm having a bit of a struggle choosing my 6th subject for next year (I'm currently in Year 10) so I came on here to look for suggestions.

Math Methods
English
Chinese SL
Biology
Chemistry
??
I'm not planning to do a 3/4 next year so I understand that it will be really stressful in year 12. I'm looking for a subject that won't take too much time as I will be focusing on the 5 I had in mind already. I'm aiming for an ATAR around 95+.
I take an interest in almost everything but not so much for art or something like specialist math's. I wanted to select philosophy but unfortunately our school doesn't offer it.

What courses are you hoping to take after high school?

I think some good options might be:

Psych
Business Management
Further
physics (but this is more dependent on what course you want to do)
I think you could do philosophy via VSV (Distance Ed) still if you’re adamant.

I'm looking at the education course- I would like to be a science teacher but if I somehow reach higher than a 95 I would take my opportunity to look into other courses if that makes sense...

Hello,
I actually did the same subjects as you and graduated last year with 97.95. I did 7 subjects with the extra 2 being further and specialist. Since you aren't planning on doing specialist, I would recommend further. Although further scales down, I believe if you do good for methods, english and chinese SL it is highly likely you can get 95+ (I got 40+ for english and chinese SL, the rest were mid 30s).

Wow 7 subjects, how was the stress? I think I might go with further based on what you've said but I'm very prone to making mistakes 😥. Thanks for the information it helped a lot
