I’m not sure if the system in WA is the same as VIC, but in VIC, VTAC (equivalent of TISC) gives you a list of preferences and you fill them out, so that Preference #1 is your most wanted course, Preference #2 is your next most wanted and so forth (last I remember there are 8 preferences). Each institute/uni will then say yes/no to accepting you and then you’ll only find out the highest preference that accepted you each course offer round (there’s about 5 but majority of offers are given in the first).
In VIC, you can pick several versions of medicine at Monash (only uni that does undergrad med): bonded (BMP, which lets you study med in exchange for some time working in rural areas), Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP, the classic one that allows you to get a HECS loan to cover it and pay back later, no rural work involved), and I can’t remember if FFP is a thing for med (Full Fee Paying, basically meaning you pay for all the course fees upfront, but likely not; this is an option for other types of non-med courses though, particularly if you don’t qualify for CSP). Each is an option for a preference e.g. you could easily fill out Preferences #1 and #2 with Monash Med (CSP) and Monash med (BMP) respectively. (I also usually recommend leaving an option that’s not medicine in your preferences, just in case.)
Note: I’m not super familiar with med stuff, but I know my VTAC stuff, so take with grain of salt but hope that helps!
Note 2: I’m from vic. Not sure if same goes in WA.
