Hi, guys
Hope everyone preparing for their exams is having a great time.
Just wanted to make a page for people to predict their (scaled) results, and maybe discuss how they're feeling.
My Predictions:
English - 25 (I have no hope)
Methods - 43
Chemistry - 35
Specialist - 35
Physics - 35 (2022)
General - 38

Hi,
Right so exam revision is very daunting for sure, got a schedule and trying to stick to it.
Got what I predict would be raw scores and then scaled scores in brackets.
English- 38 (scaled 37)
Methods- 30 (scaled 35)
Chemistry- 30 (scaled 34)
Physics- 30 (scaled 32)
Biology- 33 did in 2022, ( scaled 34)
Food studies- 45 (scaled 42)
Little disclaimer
Bit overconfident of my food studies score, others I'm probably slightly under confident.
Don't give up Class of 2023! we are almost there πŸ˜‰
For the predicted scaled study scores I used the deakin atar calculator, here it is if anyone wants to use it to predict theirs:

Queen_Of_Flora if you do really well in exams does it help quite a lot for your study score, then atar?
As for a few of my subjects i’m really struggling and haven’t gotten the best grades and sometimes barely pass.

      keiley
It really depends on the subject, so for example subjects like methods and chemistry get scaled up regardless of how well you do, but others like food studies and health and pe get scaled down regardless of how well you do.

So keep that in mind, but I would say the best you can do right now is have a good go at exams and try your best. Getting a high score in the exam doesn't guarantee a high atar, but if your whole class does well, your sac score could improve.

This is an example my teacher has given our class in the past. For sacs scores:

      Bob- 80% rank 1
      Jane- 60% rank 2
      Peter- 30% rank 3

And then these people sit the exam, for the exam, there are three exam marks

      Exam 90%
      Exam 50%
      Exam 40%

Regardless of who these exam scores belong to they get given to the equivalent ranking of students in sac scores, so

      Bob- 90% exam score
      Jane- 50% exam score
      Peter- 40% exam score

Bob is the top rank for sacs, so he gets the top exam score. Jane is second rank for sacs so she gets the second best exam score. Peter is third rank for sacs so he gets the third best score.

So this is all quite confusing, and alot of people explain it differently, but what you can take from this is that if your whole class does really well, your sac scores go up. So work together with you classmates and try your best for exams. This system may allow you to get better sac scores by chance, however you keep you exam score and depending on the subject, it can be 40%-60% of your study score. So even if you get good sac scores, your exam score still contributes a large amount. So to get a good study score you need a good ranking, and a good exam score. But even if you don't have a great ranking, a good exam score can help improve your study score. So try your best and collaborative with your classmates !

Also depending on how many unit 3&4 subjects you've taken the following contributes to atar:

      If you've taken six subjects:

      Your english/english language/eal/literature study score
Your three next best study scores
Only 10% of your two lowest study scores

So your two worst study scores don't really count for much, but that 10% can sometimes be just what you need for an atar score you need/want.

I'm unsure how this works for less than 6 year 12 subjects sorry, so hopefully someone else could explain this.

      hi!!,
just wanted to ask what your study timetable briefly looks like as I'm kinda struggling with exam revision and would like some tips !

        Hi,
So what I've done is you can use outlook calendar or any calendar that allows you to set daily tasks, I've only scheduled till the end of holidays so far.

So the first thing I did was make a list of everything I need to complete by the end of these holidays, and then I started filling in daily tasks. For example if you have 12 math chapters, you can do the questions for 1 of those chapters everyday.

Try to keep it realistic otherwise you'll end up with too much work and will be unable to complete it. Everytime I finish something I highlight it on my list to check it off.

        Hope this helps! πŸ™‚

For what it looks like, it's mostly exam questions from textbooks, practice exams, and revision of earlier topics in the year.

        Hi,
Hope everyone is trying to revise for exams, here are what I think I'll get

        English - 30 (scaled 28 I'm hopeless)
        Methods - 38 (scaled 43)
        Accounting Uni accelerate (45)
        Accounting school - (45)
        Business -(45)
Further math (40) did last year scales down to 38

Hey Venky, if you dont mind me asking but do you know what scores you got in your further exams to get a raw 40. I am also aiming for 40+ in further maths.
        Thanks

          only doing one 3/4 subject
          general - 45 raw (i hope)

Might as well add my hopes lol (all unscaled)

Manny hello, just wondering what were you getting last year in your sacs. because I'm not sure if I'm even tracking to get a 40 πŸ™

          Manny

So in my cohort I was Rank 1 getting high 90s for every sac, but this doesn't matter as only your sac rank is taken into consideration, but what put me down is my Exam scores which where A and A, I forgot to apply for Statement of Marks but I'd highly recommend don't screw up like me in exams lol, if you can get around a 36 in exam 1 and 53 plus in exam 2 for around a 40. Good luck with the exam this year

thank you! I stuffed up to of my sacs 78 and 79 and my other 2 were 85 and 91. I've lost a lot of confidence and I feel like getting in the 40s is out of reach for me. because of my sacs and my rank. but thanks for your response. do u know how much your ranking gets considered?

I am in a similar situation aswell. My sac scores are like 75, 90, 90 ,85. I dont if I will be able to get a 40 πŸ™

            only doing 2 Subjects
Religion and Societies - 36 raw
            Viet SL - 35raw (please)

Manny i got a 44 with a 65% average in biology last year (2022) so i dont think sac scores are actually that deep

Really wow, you must have had a very strong exam. Congrats. My friend also did bio last year I think he had a 70% average and got a b+ in exa which got him a 36 study score.

            6 months later

Queen_Of_Flora hey girl! What were your sac scores for each sac for unit 3 and 4 and for the exam for you to achieve raw 33 in bio
