Thanks so much for the response. I was hesitant to go off the Deakin Calculator because it doesn't seem to rely on grade distributions and median scores for previous years. I think it mainly takes the average percentage of your marks across the year and divides it by two to get the score out of 50. For example, I'm doing French as well this year and if I inputted 60% for all of the fields, it would predict a study score of 30, which I know from previous data at my school (and anecdotal evidence) is inaccurate.
I think it mainly depends on the median scores obtained by the state. In more competitive subjects such as French, where the the average over Unit 3, 4 and the exam is 67% (I think), an average score of 60% would surely net less than a 30 study score.
I found a method of calculation in an old atarnotes discussion from 2012, and I used it to accurately predict the study score for something I did last year, but I'm not sure if this was simply a fluke. Hopefully someone with more experience than us in this area can shed some light on the topic (and preferably before 24 October 🙂). I will put the links that I referenced below.
