I am a student going into grade 12 next year in QLD. I have the following subjects:

  1. English
  2. English & literature extension
  3. Biology
  4. Physics
  5. Engineering
  6. Mathematical methods
I want to go into university as an aerospace engineer (Aeronautical) and I am thinking, if I have messed up by not choosing Specialist maths? Can this mistake be fixed later on by acquiring the knowledge from a bridging course or have I done myself in?
The course's prerequisites page (In QUT which is my main preferance) states that I need "Methods or specialist mathematics" but I am wondering how much more difficult my life will be since I have not done specialist math.

Any piece of information would be valuable.

I don’t know about QUT but I’m looking at doing engineering at Monash
The prerequisites also say methods or spec but, if you do spec in year 12, you have one extra elective subject in your first year when everyone else (who didn’t do yr 12 spec) is doing the equivalent of spec
Not sure about other unis but you can probably see on the course timeline if that’s available to you
    Hope this helps

You should be fine. Not completely certain of QUT engineering but most courses would have a subject you can do in the first semester which is basically the same as specialist maths. If the prerequisites state Methods OR Specialist you shouldn't worry about only doing specialist since the course structured having in mind that some students would not have done specialists maths.
