Welcome to ATAR Release Day! 🥳
Congratulations to all students who finished a U3/4 this year and an even bigger congrats to those who finished Year 12! No matter your result (especially if it was not as you expected), remember that you survived the mountain that is Year 12 and you even did it with some craziness that trickled through from the pandemic (online learning and lockdowns). It’s been a mammoth 13 years of learning, but for now, it’s time to celebrate! 🎉
Please be mindful of other students. Many of you will be majorly excited, but there will be others who will be disappointed in their ATARs. If this is you, that’s OK and you’re totally entitled to feel that, but remember that your ATAR is simply ONE pathway. It’s a type of currency, like a $50 coupon. You can choose to use all $50 if you want, you can choose to use $40 or you can choose to use another currency (an alternate pathway e.g. course transfer) to pay $60 to get what you want. It will be hard work to gain that last $10 (the alternate pathway) but it will pay off later when you finally get there. You may even find out that you have a scrunched up $10 note at the bottom of your bag to get in anyway (lowest selection rank is lower this year or SEAS/ subject bonuses save you). You just never know. But for now, remember that you’ve done well to get this far, irrespective of that number. Your disappointment will be temporary, but your future can be bright, if you so will it. For now, it may hurt but there is always a way and you’ve still got plenty to celebrate. (Look at you with your fancy VCE certificate!)
This post goes out to you and the Class of 2023. Enjoy that well-earnt break because y’all deserve it! 🎓
