Hi, I’m having a lot of doubts right now about Psychology, but I would really like to achieve a high study score as it’s my only 3/4 in Y11 so I’ll be able to focus on it, and I guess right now I just want some confirmation of sorts

A bit of background info:
(I know SACs are really no indicator since the difficulty is different between schools but I have no other info to derive from) I’ve done very well in units 1/2, achieving 4 A+ and 2 As for SACs, getting 3 marks wrong max and 89% on the end of year exam. From what I heard from my classmates, some of them got 40% or 60% for some SACs. And I got an achievement award for Y11 psychology in my school, so I’m assuming I was the highest in my cohort.

So this has made me feel ambitious, and especially after starting a bit of the 3/4 psych textbook, I’ve started to really admire the subject and feel eager to learn more about it.

But after searching about what my school has got for psychology, I’m wondering whether a 45+ is possible. In general, only less than 15 students would get a 40+ ss in ANY subject in my school. In the past 6 years for psychology, 1 student got a 40, 3 got 42, and 1 got 43, the highest so far.

So I’m wondering, even if I’m rank 1 in my cohort, comparing to the rest of Victoria, would it be possible to get 45+ ss?

YXQ Yes, definitely possible. Best of luck with Psych - I enjoyed it, too!

I go to a school that sounds similar to yours. I was able to yield a 45 in bio, though my sacs scaled down significantly due to the weaker cohort. My exam scores were indicative of a 47/48, but sacs, despite being rank 1, brought my score down to a 45. It is definitely possible to achieve a 45, especially if you love the subject, however, you may need to work harder to achieve such score.

Hello friend! I was in a very similar position like you in Year 11 with the highest scoring in the cohort and aiming for a 45 in psych. If you can maintain these scores, you can definitely get about a 43 realistically (which is what I got with very similar scores to yours in Year 12). If you do want to boost your scores up to 45+ though, I'd recommend doing exceptionally well in your poster SAC (it's more easy to get right than other SACs in psych) and working on your research methods (cause this will always be present in each SAC and exam). Getting over 95% in each of your SACs and an A+ in the exam puts you in a really good spot to get 45+.
