I applied last year to Monash Science Schools and the exams weren't that bad. However they are SUPER science focused. Like I passed everything and was going to be let in (i emailed to principal and thats how he responded) but because I showed too much that my interests were in music I got rejected. (they were lol)
read up on science articles that interest you, as they ask you what sort of science news you have seen recently.
be ready to explain the science of an invention/idea in detail
above all be sure that what shines the most is your interests in science if you want to get in, because the exams are pretty standard, its the interview that screwed people over. there is also a group interview stage where they have you peform tasks as a team, be sure to take initiative there
