Hi guys! We've seen a lot of variety in terms of how schools are getting their students to do the commentary, so we've come up with a rough structure for those who haven't been given a lot of guidance by their schools. We have a full post written here (along with a video explainer), but basically we've broken it into 3 parts:
Overall structure and purpose - Why did you choose your form and structure? How does the form support your purpose and message?
Audience and your message - Who is your audience and how did you craft your piece to target them specifically?
Specific language choices and reflection - Talk about the language choices you made. Why did you choose specific metaphors, language features, adjectives, etc? What did you experiment with? What did you learn about the writing process and developing a voice and message?
The whole commentary should be about 400-500 words (unless your school has said otherwise), and the good news is that you only do the commentary for the SAC, not the exam!
Good luck!
