So i’m in year 11 currently in term 2 week 4 and I recently got permission to change from Engineering Studies to Modern History. Although I love history and really want to be in the class, I fear because of the mass amount of content I have to learn in such a short amount of time I will not succeed as much as i originally thought. Additionally, i think my report will be affected as I would need to learn the content, then do the exams. I personally find the theory content of Engineering to be very dull and boring and i often can’t focus during classes although my cohort is rlly rlly rlly good and I have a rlly good teacher but I can say the same for Modern (not to the same extent tho). I really don’t know as I absolutely love history but don’t want to dedicate that shear amount of time learning all content.

      idk if im too late but honestly it really depends on what topics your class covers in modern history in year 12 and whether or not you like it. you might do completely different topics in year 12 than in comparison to year 11 so it may not matter if you are a bit behind in year 11 content

      • i was asleep for basically all my yr 11 classes (probs worse off than u ngl did not pay attention) and am doing pretty good in yr 12 because although yr 11 had some good background knowledge, none of it is in the actual hsc syllabus for my topics so for the stuff i was asleep for it doesn't matter since i just paid attention in yr 12 where it counts lol

      i like year 12 modern history much more than year 11 modern history, if you already have a love for modern history im sure you will enjoy it. also the content for modern history is often pretty interesting to learn about so if you are passionate about the topics your school chose you will probs catch up pretty well. i recommend talking to the modern history teacher about it to see what you study in year 12
