MMHS

Hey I’m a MHS applicant who made their second preference (SCHS). I know that there are 4 more rounds plus principal’s discretion, but I honestly do not know how hopeful to be as I have a friend who is slightly above my level who missed out on both schs and mhs, and two other friends who got in SCHS as well. What do you think?

BengaliCamel First of all congrats for getting an offer at SCHS that's still quite an achievement. I think your situation isn't too bad at the moment unless you really don't want to attend SCHS for some reason personal to you. Honestly, I wouldn't rely on principals discretion as like 150 kids apply for this and only 10 get it in the end (something around this). Keep your hopes up because even if your friend is above your level that doesn't mean you didn't do better than him in the test. If he didn't get an offer and he is in the same school than you, then i think you still have a decent chance of making it, albeit a slightly lower chance (probably around 10-20%). Don't lose hope as i think you could get in though this isn't a guarantee of course. But still, be proud of yourself, you made it into a SEHS

Yeah I was a bit astounded at how he did not get in as i’ve seen some of his writing pieces and they were way better than mine. I don’t mind attending SCHS, however, MHS is my first preference. I definitely am relying more on a round 2 or 3 offer than principal’s discretion and someone from last year’s cohort in my school got in mhs with only 2 sups, one avg, high avg, and above avg. I am still happy that I got into SCHS, but round 2 offers are haunting me. I just hope that I can make it in as it’s hard for me to estimate how high up I am when I compare myself with my school friends, but thanks for the reply!

Ikr, and it was on writing which apparently holds the most weight - which idk if that’s true or not.

YR10SEHSASPIRANT we will see though, i got second round in a couple of days, congrats on ur offer though. also, i think u are eligible for MHS if u get ur second preference. look at other forums

Well good news for you: my classmate declined an offer from nhs, so you have a chance. Just tell me if you got in nhs in the second round
