IZM i dont think in would recommend jac because for me, the maths components weren't as reliable/comparable to the real on, English is good though

dont completely rely on hendersons completely though, cuz the workshops were helpful to an extent but make sure you get a good tutor for continuous mock tests, I did hendersons and edukingdom and it didnt help. I learnt stuff from hendersons but practiced completely different stuff at ekc, so i reccomend private tutors, that's what i might do for next years exam.

honestly henderson's just overcharges everything for no reason. the JAC mock test was much cheaper than any of the henderson's ones, and a much more realistic experience.

i definitely wouldn't reccommend doing the henderson's math workshop because it was a huge waste of money. i barely learnt anything, and they don't really give you any timed questions. it's all very laid back, and most of my time in that workshop was spent zoning out because i had nothing to do (the teacher was like fox-guarding the bonus material and wouldn't let us do it during class🤦 ). the experience was not very good, but that was mostly because i didn't get a good teacher.

however, their numerical workshop was really good. honestly still VERY overpriced, but i got a very good teacher and he taught us very good strategies for the test.

i can't comment on the English workshops because I didn't do them, but i've heard that they are pretty good.
the mock tests are okay as well. however, they overcharge by a lot (i think only one mock test is $375 and the math workshop was $2000 for 4 x 4 hour sessions) They make people do the writing separately instead of doing both essays in under 40 minutes in the mock tests, which I honestly don't think is a good idea, because then kids learn to rely on time warnings, whereas in the real exam there were no time warnings.

my opinion on jac is honestly pretty good. for TT8 (selective prep class) they overprepared us for the math side, but they definitely underprepare people on the English side (in terms of vocabulary). i'm doing pre-john monash classes right now, and honestly the Engilsh is too easy. the math is okay right now, and the science is also okay.

often there are no breaks, which if you do often is not good for your body. i assume this goes for many tuitions and even school sometimes, but it's so important to be fit and healthy, especially when prepping for an exam. so, if you're going to do henderson's, jac or some other tuition, then make sure you do extra exercise to compensate for the time spent sitting.

i guess the most important thing is to not get complacent just because you are doing tutoring. 99% of the kids that do selective go to tutoring, so it's crucial to do your own practise. tutoring centers can only give you the tools to climb the mountain of testing, but you have to be the one to climb the mountain.

this turned out really long, but i hope this helps anyone 👍

i honestly found the maths for jac to worst experience bc it wasn't much like the real exam, English was in many ways the vocab was easy at jac but i just have an extensive vocab anyways so helped with vr and writing so ye

MMHS yea i mean jac isn't the best place to actually learn things, because tbh their books are pretty useless, but just doing their mock tests every week helps soo much, especially with question picking and time management. they're overly lenient with their writing (like literally when i wrote my first essay there it wasn't even related to the topic and i got a 23/25 from jac, but my private tutor gave it a 0 💀)

whisper i went to epping but my teacher wasn't very lenient the highest i got with her was a 17/20 but seeing as i got in and ik my writing is good, it must've been decent and the markers were more lenient than her or it was just exceptional lol. What center for u?

whisper Yeah, the workshops are insanely overpriced and there weren’t that much quality for math, numerical I agree I had a good teacher but for the english ones, verbal was helpful and writing were kind of helpful but reading was not. I would recommend going to a private tutor as many of my friends did that and were succesful.

MMHS i went to glen waverley. and that's good for writing. i had this old lady as my english teacher. she was sooo good at teaching vocab cuz she would make up these stories, but she was so bad for writing because she gave everyone like 20's. the math teachers were ok though

like for a month at least

maybe like the the very last month

My elder daughter who is in Mac Rob. year 10 got PD. If they offer you PD, they will send you a pack of forms. You have to write why you want to get into that particular school and submit all your academic and extracurricular certificates as evidence. They will give you a very short time, like 2-3 days, and they want a hard copy of the form handwritten. Then they will shortlist 200 students and conduct an interview, where you have to present yourself. They prefer extracurricular activities, but they also accept academic achievements. From the 200 shortlisted, they choose 50 students (the exact number may vary).

Does anyone knows anyone who got in from Dandenong High?

No from 100 they chose 10 may be

IZM May I ask what your daughter had wrote in there? (Like her reason why & what she does) Thanks 😊

akina she wrote aboit Mac Robs good things..go to the school's web dite and find the programme they are doing and write about the uniqe things what they have and yoir interest on that. I recall one paragraph you have to write about your achievements and one paragraph about the school.

bruh i still haven't gotten an email from MHS, has anyone else got one who got mhs first round?

akina she did so.many things that time but was not that level they expected like state wise peticipating some sports or music but she had some academic achievements like principal award, academic excellency those clicked I think...thats why I am saying that I heard before interview that those who attened interview needsl to have so many extra curricullar activities out of school achievements..but tgats not true 100% they encourage academic also...and she said her interview was good and when mac rob called us that are we going to accept the place principal also told she did very well in interview may be that was a general term still.. I think they see only how much confident you are.. Because I dont know what other think PD is actually hard..look who got chance in rounds does not have to sit for interview but for PD you have to overcome more obstacles..

Any way I am sorry if its sounds too much advices...its not the end of the world..selective schools are so good no doubt.. I like the school for environment and they get polished going through the exam, travelling, competition but at the end of the day its all depends on you how you taking things.. If you want to be in right path you will definitely succeed anywhere and if you get distructed you will suffer anywhere

IZM This is a great paragraph! I truly agree with what you have to say and i appreciate your responses. Your children are indeed talented 🙂 Thank you for the response! Im sure other children who are reading this would be relieved if they got PD 👍

YR10SEHSASPIRANT nah but u only js got an offer and its been like 4 days since the firsts round ended, you still have like 3 more days. It should come soon tho for me
