YR10SEHSASPIRANT my bad it was page 6:

For some students it may be of benefit to accelerate by commencing a VCE Units 1 & 2 subject in Year 10 and then
continuing on to study a Units 3 & 4 subject in Year 11. This allows students to have a sixth subject to contribute
towards their ATAR. The ATAR calculation is complicated, but in simplest terms it counts English first, then the
next three top scores (this is called the primary four) and then 10% of the fifth subject. If students accelerate
by studying a Units 3 & 4 subject in Year 11, they will receive an additional 10% of their sixth subject in the
calculation. A maximum of six subjects contribute to the calculation of the ATAR.
The other advantage to students who accelerate is that they gain some experience of the VCE and know what
to expect in the following years. As acceleration can, however, put undue stress on some, students need to be
achieving at an appropriate level to accelerate.

bro i was just reading how all selective schools tend to have teachers that teach because they have to and not because they want to, this was like 5 yeas ago tho, but still could have significant now too

MMHS yeah, i've heard that the teaching in most of these SEHS is similar to most public schools, but the important part is extracurriculars and the student culture

GoGoGo yea and i feel like its that for all sehs, its 90% self study, 10% teachers help, maybe even less but i guess if we form a close friendship group, then we will end up asking each other questions and not the teachers. Yes its good and all but now I'm kind of second questioning the grandeur of the schools reputation, i mean its pretty much reputed bc its a cheat code, all the smart students go there, other wise it would be just like any other selective school, nossal and schs seem to have more welcoming environments though, idk y. My family friends brother said he really enjoys mhs, he's in yr 12 now so idk, lets just take things slow and get to know the system in the first term or so

MMHS bro js watching the formals show how close everyone is it is soooo good to see and the self-study is so true cuz i have so many friends at nossal that say the workflow weighs on the self-study side

do u get to do accelerated subjects in yr 11 like a 3/4 unit or nah for schs

din > VCE study at Suzanne Cory spans Year 11 and Year 12, with opportunities for high-achieving students to accelerate their studies at junior year levels.

a little vague but it would seem so

GoGoGo oh okay ty, but can u do this in other skls apart from sehs

din a lot of schools offer this, in fact MHS is a bit of an outlier in that you can't do this

hey guys i don't care if i'm disqualified, my friend really wanted me to ask

So one of my friends also did the SEHS exam this year, and received the following scores:

                • Reading: Average
                • Maths: Average
                • Quantative: Top 10%
                • Verbal: Top 10%
                • Writing: Top 10%
She did not receive an offer of PD sadly 🙁
There's a cap for one more person, the total cap is 4 people and 3 people including myself have been accepted.
How much of a chance do you think she has for the future rounds? Hoping for the best 🙂

she should've had a good chance had she not had 2 averages, she does have decent chances for later rounds tho

clover some extra information is needed, like if the 4% rule has already been reached in your school

if not, there's an alright chance she'll be considered in upcoming 4&5
if so, sadly that means she can't make it

i think 2 of averages and/or ba is something sehs are harsh on
