I heard there's a methods class, and I wanna do it in yr 10and there's a test or something, so does anyone know how to prepare for it? Also when does the test usually take place ( ik this is a repost but I genuinely need help 😭 )

wait guys I found smth it says " For those students wanting to complete
accelerated Maths in Year 10 there is compulsory assessment to assess student
readiness for acceleration on Monday 16 October, 2023 at 3.30pm. This assessment will be online and registration will be via email from the Head of Mathematics, Mr Rowen May.
You wil need a pen and pencil with which to write. Calculators are not required. The results
in this assessment determine the group of students that will be allowed to do accelerated
Maths in Year 10. You will be emailed your results 2 weeks after the test."

at this point I'm just talking to myself lol

so october would be approximately 1 month preparation

maijaluna Thank you! : ))) ( I'm genuinely so flattered by the fact that youre so nice lol I haven't seen anyone like this in real life it would be so nice to meet you in person <3 )

cshar Are u pretty sure u gonna get into JMSS? But anyway I if do get in(unlikely) I'll also do the same. Anyway it's still good to think ahead!

.. no no no! I am absolutely NOTT ABSOLUTELY sure lol. Im just thinking ahead and even if I don't get in, my 1 month long preparation (sarcasm) will prolly benefit me for next year in my current school since we have to do specialist in yr 10

cshar AWWW THATS SO SWEET 😭 you're really kind it would be really nice to meet you too aaa i hope we meet in personn<3

        7 days later

cshar For me I'm thinking of doing the full unit 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 textbooks in one month, which will probably be extremely time-consuming and incredibly stupid.

Does anyone know if we can take general maths with maths method in grade 10?

Mnm60 are you talking about JMSS? if so, I don't think that its allowed.

cshar I honestly don't know. If there is a methods acceleration test i want to get in so bad because math is my fav subject.

Mnm60 I asked the interviewer that, and he basically said no. Apparently more advanced pure math is useful for higher level science too.
