Hey I am a year 11 doing methods 34 this year, I just got my last sac back and it was pretty bad. I ranked A+ in both my other sacs but a C+ in this last one (our sac scores are already ranked) is it still possible for me to get a 49 or 50 study score if I do exceptionally well on the exam? Thanks

Hi there Tea,
I think that it really depends on where you are ranked and/or the strength of your cohort.
If you are ranked #1, due to SAC moderation, a 60% and 95% average are inherently the same, as far as VCAA is concerned (it may affect your respective school's awards though).
Additionally, if you are ranked slightly lower (e.g. #2-#10), but go to a competitive school (i.e. Scotch, SEHS, etc.), then it shouldn't make too much of a difference.
However, if you are ranked quite low, at a poorly performing school (due to easy SACs), it may be quite difficult, even if you do ace the exam.
In any case, just try your best, and thus can't be too disappointed in the outcome.
Thank you so much for your reply!!
Though the thing with my school is, our sac scores are already ranked, meaning that if I have an A+ I ranked pretty high, if I have a C+ I ranked pretty low and below average. My three sacs are A+, A+, C+ and that’s all we will have this year. I would say my school is pretty competitive and the sacs are relatively hard, would the C+ diminish my chance of obtaining a high study score of 47+? In other words would my study score be dragged down by that C+ ranking even if my exam was really good? Thank you!

The link I will post below will explain it in more detail.
However, as a brief summary, if you are ranked 6th in your cohort, you will keep your exam score, and you will take the 6th highest exam score (in your school's cohort), and use it as your moderated SAC score.
As such, since your school will submit finalized rankings to VCAA, your SAC score will be highly dependent on how well the other students do.
If lots of people get 95%+ on the exam, and so do you, a 47 is very possible.
Let me know if it requires further clarification.
