Help me pls this is actually such a difficult decision.
To start off, I don't really have a specific uni course in mind (probably either something in medical science or architecture, or some sort of double degree with the two - On this topic, please let me know if there is a university with a flexible and customizable double degree) my main goal is to maximize my Atar (I want a 93+) so I could have a broad selection range of both stem and architectural degrees. Currently, I'm doing 13 units: English Advanced (2), math ext1 & 2 (4), biology (2), design and technology (2), visual arts (2), and science extension (1).
Context:
I did the accelerated mathematics course at my school so I've already completed the Math Adv HSC course, but I lowkey did pretty bad; Hopefully a band 5 n nothing less since the HSC marks aren't released yet. However, I did do alright in Ext 1 math in year 11 and only messed up for silly mistakes so I'll definitely be keeping ext 1 in yr 12. I'm doing Ext 2 as kinda a redemption for Adv math since I don't want to redo it, but ngl its taking up quite a bit of my time, and it actually requires a bit more brainpower to understand it so there may be a potential I might drop it - So I want my other subjects to scale good/be good.
On the other hand, I've dropped Chemistry and picked up the science X offer before I realized the subject was a full on scientific report major work and was basically a 2 unit subject - Keep in mind that I'm really not that committed to it but it does look quite simply so its a 50/50 as to keeping n dropping.
My issue right now is that I'm unsure if I would be able to juggle 3 major works as well as 4 unit math. I was considering dropping D&T (prelim rank was 4/37) and replacing it with Chem, but even though I'm not extremely passionate about the subject(D&T) itself - It aligns with one of my uni aspirations, and I also really want to do an architecture project for it: HOWEVER I did not do well on the prelim paper (my school made it into an informal) where I only got like 27/41 (might be because I didn't study). On the other hand - Chemistry wasn't my strongest subject in the preliminary course (ranked 13/43, avg % was 78 in total), but most people I've talked to has told me to keep it due its high scaling properties - And that my year group was generally doing pretty well in the subject so they might pull me up as well. I still have time (like 2 days) to make my decision on whether or not I would like to retake chemistry back onto my time table since I haven't actually missed any lessons since dropping the subject as it takes a bit of time. My other option is to drop science extension, keep D&T and take on chem - Making a total of 14 units - Of which I could drop anything if needed to.
Another thing is that I was also told as long as you do really well in a subject - No matter if its a major work/"bad" scaling subject or not, you can still get an extremely high atar as long as you put in enough effort - Chat is this true???? How highly ranked do I gotta be????
So now I'm thinking of keeping all of them.. All 15 units... And dropping whatever I do worse in whenever I feel like it ðŸ˜... Please send some help and advice plsðŸ˜ðŸ˜
(P.S. Other subject ranks for prelim were: Math Ext 1 - 10/43, VA - 2/36, Bio - 2/80, Eng Adv - 11/115: What should I do for a 93+ atar chat...)
