How hard is it to get raw 35 in chinese second language

I'm of a chinese background, however, my essays are really bad and I don't think I can write every character on the character list provided by VCAA. I don't speak much chinese at home but my parents speak chinese to me. I only do well on all my SACs at school (around 90%) because I grind practice prompts for the topic our teacher says our sac will be on and the SACs are easy compared to other schools (especially since a few students in the class aren't of chinese background and only started learning chinese in year 9/middle school). If someone suddenly gave me a random topic to write about or talk about I'd probably fail. I used to go to XJS but I quit because I sucked and could only understand half of what the teacher was saying in class. My reading is somewhat decent. my teacher said I should continue with chinese but I'm not sure if I'm good enough or if I have the work ethic to practice chinese every single day. Does anyone have any advice?

I did not study Chinese but a LOTE and I know that the study designs of language subjects are similar. (But that language is my first language so take it with a grain of salt.)
If you do want to continue with Chinese Second Language(I am assuming you are finishing year 11), I suggest language immersion. Nothing beats reading, writing and speaking in Chinese when it comes to improvement.
Also, go through VCAA exams and reports to have an idea of what level of language comprehension is needed for you and the exact structures and topics of the exams.
Take your time while deciding, you can still drop a subject after holidays if things become too difficult and unmanageable.
