“Why should I trust you?” & “Because I’m the only one that knows the way.” ( prompt)
The wall of the tunnel was rough, coated with layers of paint that had begun to peel away. A dim light flickered occasionally, turning off. The smell of rotting food gave the tunnel its unpleasant smell. The flapping of a bat's wings or the scurries of a mouse could be heard echoing off the walls and through what seemed like an endless abyss.
After walking for what could’ve been 20 minutes or 2 hours, I came to a stop. My legs trembling and my feet covered in blisters, I sat on the ground. I had no recollection of how I came here. For the past - who knew, I had been walking aimlessly searching for an exit, parched and starved. The only signs of life were the rodents that probably carried a disease. My hands in my hair, I racked my brain for a way to get out of here and get back home.
I stood up and immediately sat back down overcome by the nausea and dizziness. Had I passed out? I had no idea. Time in this endless labyrinth was impossible to keep track of. My eyes flickered back open only to find a glowing figure in front of me. Who was this? What was this entity? Was I hallucinating?
Suddenly, the entity started speaking, “Follow me human.”
“Why should I trust you?” I enquired knowing either this was a trap or it was legitimate.
“Because I’m the only one that knows the way.” The creature started to walk away, leaving me behind.
It was either I rot to death and die of starvation or I follow the ‘thing’ and get out or possibly have a gruesome death. I had nothing to lose.
After a tiring walk we reached a fork in the path. I could go left or right. The entity stepped into the left path as I followed pursuit. As we walked further along, I started to regret my decision. Spiderwebs hung from every corner and the temperature dropped. Suddenly, going back and going through the right path seemed more appealing.
“Are you sure this is the right way?” I asked, shivering.
The entity replied sharply, “Hold on for a bit longer.”
Could I really trust it? Was this just my hallucination leading me to my demise? I stopped abruptly staring at the luminous glow - the light at the end of the tunnel. Except this light was… red? I stepped through it scared of the unknown. Where would it take me?
can anyone give me some feedback
