Hi!
I graduated school in 2020 and I have just finished my Bachelor of Science Degree (in Engineering) at the University of Melbourne. I have excelled in my academics in both school and University, and during this, I have learnt so many tips and tricks to help students reach their academic potential. Over the last three years, I have done over 600 hours of tutoring, where I have helped many students prepare for their SACs and end of year VCE exams.
I am currently looking for students to tutor for next year, for the following subjects:
- VCE Chemistry Units 1/2 and 3/4
- VCE Mathematical Methods Units 1/2 and 3/4
- Grades 7-10 Mathematics
I achieved very highly in these subjects, and by pursuing them further in university, I have developed my skills in them immensely.
PRICES (Private Tutoring):
- Year 7-10: $40/hr
- Years 11-12: $45/hr
What I will provide:
- Practise SACs and plenty of practise questions
- Notes
- Customised classes based on the studentβs needs
- Lessons that focus on both the theory and application of content
- Support outside of tutoring sessions
I am offering online tutoring on Zoom/Microsoft Teams, so I can tutor students from all over Victoria.

https://forms.gle/64ki7sZkD5a8GX9W6You can treat this as a hidden quadratic.
x4+x2-1=0
let a=x2
a2+a-1=0 --> Solve using quadratic formula
a=-1+/-sqrt(12-4(a)(-1))/2(1)
a=-1+/-sqrt(5)/2Then square root the a value to find x. Let me know if you need more clarification
Congrats on finishing the semester Ashmi!! How on earth did you manage all those subjects ahhh.
Hope the internships and research projects go well for you! Keep us updated on those. Meteorology also sounds so cool so I hope that job works out.
Enjoy the holidays! Hopefully I'll see you around sometime soon!
Thank you! I do think that is a possibility - really depends on the subject combo you do - most maths/sci subjects always have an exam unfortunately
Yep, had an exam last week and another one tomorrow for maths. Didn't have too many this time around - 4 exams last semester killed me - no clue how Year 12 me survived 6+ exams.
Its a bit annoying though as I'm getting a final assignment on Monday which I have another week to do - dragging a bit longer into November this time.
How are you doing?
Yep, currently in exam season but thankfully it wraps up this week. Really looking forward to the break!
There's so many things I can say but the main thing for me is being surrounded by like minded people. I no longer feel guilty for studying and enjoy being able to discuss academic related things with others. The flexibility has also been great.
I also found that uni has given me a much richer learning experience than school. I have learnt SO much about so many different things in just 1.5 years. I also enjoy having assignments during semester compared to the SACs we had to sit at school.
I pretty much only handwrite! I have tried writing notes in the past for extremely content heavy subjects but I find it very hard to connect with the information that I'm learning. I do do a mix of handwriting on my iPad and handwriting on paper depending on the subject.

If you decide to do the mathematical physics major at Melbourne Uni I think you can still take Astrophysics as an elective subject? In the Melb uni majors theres usually plenty of space to choose extra electives that you're interested in. But yeah, it will only be a single subject, not a major.
Will I'm sure Billzene will be able to give you a better answer since I'm a bit out of touch with VCE chemistry, but I am pretty sure that the numbers are not necessary for compounds that are implied. For example, no need to write propan-2-one, propanone will suffice (but you actually don't need to know how to name aldehydes and ketones for VCE chemistry anyway)
Jesus
You wouldn't lose marks for writing this.Surprisingly, I don't think I had too many career ideas as a kid - but I know that I mentioned I wanted to be a school teacher a few times. Definitely don't want to do school teaching as a career but I do love teaching and working with students.
I think when I was 12 I wanted to be a tennis player. Definitely was not good enough and definitely not something I would have wanted to do full time
Love this thread as I've thought about it many times myself! I would love to be able to create beautiful artworks that really speak to people.
Here are some questions!
- What's your favourite part about working in education?
- What is one hobby that you used to have but don't have now?
- Top 3 musical artists?
What are you getting stuck on specifically?
