  • har yeah i heard that paper 1 killed everyone. welp im in yr11 but i did do methods external - my new trauma! 😃🔫

  • I got only 47 on internals so I've kinda been panicking. Ig any last-minute questions could be written here since anything helps! I started studying for it in Term 2 holiday so I REALLY hope I do well.

Good luck to all of you! 😅🤞

    • So I got confirmed 17/20 for my assignment and I'm so disappointed. I'm gonna make sure to ace the IA3 (cause otherwise I'm dead) so I'd love to help with questions when externals approach. I'm already studying for it. 🤓

    • tsch Yes I would def do it. It's obviously hard but that means you get good insight into what to expect in yr11/12. Also, u can see ur true maths potential! Trust me, I just started U2 and it is HELLISH.

    • Nate Hi there. I'm a QCE student so my Methods course may be a bit different but I still have the same idea. I would say you should definitely do yr11 in yr10 if you can.

I'm currently in Unit 4 of Methods and I'm gonna say. IT'S. SO. DAMN. EASY. That's because I do Specialist which makes it look like a baby but yeah, it's definitely manageable. You just need to understand the work when you learn it and do some revision, ensuring that you catch up in harder areas.

Doing an accelerated subject is a huge benefit in yr12 (that is if you do well) cause the stress of other subjects will be significantly lower as one subject is now gone. So I'll reinforce my point once more that you should consider it.

      • So I just got my IA2 back and nailed it!!! I got the full 15 points with a 99% 🤣 so I'm happy with that. HOWEVER, I have never done a maths assignment so I will have some trouble with that, which is why I made this thread.

We're gonna start it on Wednesday and so on and so forth...

If any Methods kids in yr12 have any questions or advice about the assignment, just chuck it here - it'll help you as well as me lol. Welp, gl to me hoping to get full marks!

      • apenguinstudies I'm in QCE and here you MUST do Methods with Specialist, so I'm sure that's the same case for you. There's a very good synergy between the two subjects and your ATAR will skyrocket if you do well.

I think 2 sciences is enough, since bio especially is good for clinical work but idk (I'm doing Physics and Chem). As a whole, Methods is the better choice imo, so do that instead of psych or replace chemistry. Don't look at this as advice but just my opinion hehe.

P.S. You're in yr9, so don't stress! Enjoy this peaceful school year and enjoy the time with your friends! Nothing to worry about rn... 😀

        • jinx_58 I really appreciate the tips you gave cause my speech was today and I nailed it!! My classmates were saying that no one could top it and even my teacher said that I did better than other classes. Tysm!

          Edit 20/3 I got 25/25!! 😁

          • Leeshi I actually did one last year so I could give you some insight. I played as the Nurse so that was fun...

            • Hey guys. Do ya'll have any tips for the Methods IA2 exam? Mine is on next Friday and I'm scared that I won't meet my expectations. My teacher wants everyone to get 13 or above. 💀

              • Leeshi It's the external. If you don't you're screwed. 💀 💀 But you can also use indirect quotes like a scene or specific setting/literary device, though that won't get you top marks.

                • I'm doing general english now because my mark wasn't enough for lit. Anyways, I have my IA2 coming up and our topic is 'cultural ownership'. I was thinking of talking about K-pop since it's something I know quite a lot of lol but I can't really find many links between the two (as of now). I would appreciate if I could get any ideas or just tips for writing my speech since I'm confident in presenting.

Hope y'all have had a good start to this year.

                  • WelcomeToHell Damn, you've done so much already lol. I'm just getting to know my teachers and revising for our U3 Methods exam...

                  • WelcomeToHell
Noice. I'll be in yr11 too so I'll make sure that I know everyone here about what I'm doing as well. I've already said my subjects elsewhere but again they are: Spec, Meth 3/4, Physics, Chem, Eco and English. I'm aiming for a top ATAR and results 🤓 .

Also our timetables got 'leaked' 2 weeks early lol - only my friends and I have seen them I think. I'll hopefully get a job and start going tryhard mode. Good luck to you (and me)!

                  • lil N

Yo, I'm going to yr11 with you as well lol. I have almost the same subjects as you but I'm doing eco instead of bio and yr12 methods. I'm also at a public high school and let me just say: your school literally does NOT play a role in your results. You just have to focus hard on your studies instead of whether your plane has sparkling water 🤣 . Some previous students at my school did really well - our dux in '21 got a 99.75... in a public school.

Also, you don't really need to worry about what you've done in yr10 since in yr11 they'll go through everything again (that is they should). I couldn't do chem in yr10 since history was compulsory (still topped my class tho lmao).

Maths is also my best and favourite subject, after all I'm doing yr12 so maybe I could explain a few things to you if you have any questions? I'll be sure to vent all about it here - hopefully the external's not as "stupid" as 2022's!
