    • charl I don't remember how to check but I got raw 90's in them except one which I messed up bad and got a 75 or smth. The exam last year was rly easy so that's why, normally those exam marks would yield a high ss.

    • venky57 It rly depends on the year, some years you need a higher mark that others, you can check the grade distribution to get an idea. I got 99% for Exam 2, and 93 or 95% for Exam 1, My sacs were 90's and I ended up with a 42.

      • Vel1 Man I wish they noticed discrpenacies like that but they don't. My grades for chem were B+, A+ A+ and ss was 43, the unit 3 did not get bumbed up. You're gonna have to grind ur ass off bro, possible but highly unlikely.

      • Realistically that's not very likely. You received 45% for methods and all of a sudden predicting 95%, even with a tutor there's not a whole lot of time since unit 4 ends soon. However Methods exam is 60% and you can still do well for the exam and maybe get a 35 study score which is a scaled 40. Chemistry has some improvement but your rank remains the same and you could be looking at high 30's best case. Im not sure how well your English cohort is but seeing as you duxxed it last year you could be capable but your rank says otherwise. Legal and Economics do not scale up much if at all so thats not helpful. Point is 98 atar is almost out of the question, not impossible i dont think but highly unlikely. You'd be looking at a low 90 atar or maybe just barely getting it. That however, does not mean you should give up, there's still hope. Good Luck

        • Belle22 Realistically, if you did bad on your sacs you, you can't expect to do very well on your exams. Your exam grind should start now especially since you need to catchup on unit 3 content. If you start grinding now, you can achieve high on unit 4 and the exam. Don't say any of the "if i am to do badly" stuff, you must ensure you don't do badly and thus need to work hard. 70-80 atar is possible, higher too maybe.

          • chemistry1111 so you'd first antidiff ekx which gets you ekx/k + c, which is your curve. You know one of the coordinates on the curve is (1,e2), so lets sub it into and make an equation. c + ek/k = e2. Now let's find the tangent of the curve at the given point. Go to CAS (menu -> 4-> 9) and u should type "tangentLine(f(x), x, 1)" which gets you the tangent line. Since it passes through origin you make it equal to zero and also sub in zero. You are now left with an equation containing only c and k. Take the equation from before and you have 2 equations. Solve using simultaneous equations and you should get k=2 and c=e2/2.

            Hope that helps

          • Jason12345678 What do you mean pick up 2 subjects in year 12? are you planning on changing 2 subjects?

At my school, they allowed those who did well in their 2 unit 3/4 subjects in year 11 to pursure only 4 in year 12. Those that didn't do well were recommended and maybe forced to do 5 subjects. If you do not enjoy that 1 subject, it may hold you back and burn you out, so I suggest you ensure a high performance this year to set a solid foundation for next year.

          • ain5232 Since you want a raw 30, it should be possible. I was in a similar situation where I didn't do as well for unit 3 but pulled it together for unit 4 and exam. Ended up with a 42 raw. Just grind last 3 months

            • yea it's possible, keep doing more work it's only like 3 months more and you could get higher than that too maybe.

            • bananabread Please keep asking 🙂. Most enjoyable would be doing prac exams/reading over notes as I could listen to music while doing it. Least enjoyable would be waiting for sac results. If you're referring to specific topics then most enjoyable would be organic and least would be the poster.

              • bananabread Our school actually didnt use the heineman textbook but I heard it was useful for chemistry. We also used edrolo but aside from that we only used the teacher's notes.
IMO, the best resource is past exams and their solutions as they explain everything you need to know.

              • I don't understand why people say chemistry is hard, I personally found it quite easy. Perhaps it's to do with the way the content is taught to them, it's a content heavy subject and you do need to know concepts with a lot of detail but doing a few exams allows you to recollect all this knowledge and you can implement it into your memory a lot faster.

If you are skipping units 1/2, I suggest you buy the 1/2 textbook now and find resources from ex or current(preferably) students and revise it over the summer holidays or even now if you aspire to do really well.

                • I did englang and it was amazing, apparentley if you are a maths based student englang is supposed to suit you better. You analyse the language choices of individuals and its purpose mainly. Theres no reading material and the only work you do is just improving your analyses.
I also did spec and yes you do end up doing more work for it but it makes methods a piece of cake.
