  • eee Adding on to that I don't think I'm gonna study bc I left it till last minute again and there's only a week, I'll just do what I can during the test and whatever happens is meant to be ig, I think its better for me to take general if Im not confident + I'm not looking for more stress

  • Christoph OMG FRR, I swear every kid in my class would flex their 90's n so on, I started to just give up LMAO bc I srly thought I wouldn't get in, I did some work here and there but I was daydreaming half the time and just gave up studying at home. Anyways ended up getting in so chilling out works fr

  • Guys how tf are you all studying for the methods readiness test, I thought the stressing was over but ig not. I did tutoring throughout the year on year 10 math but tbh I was slacking the whole time so now I'm scared cus I was gonna do pre-methods at my old school instead, my current school also doesn't cover year 10 at all even tho I'm in extension.

Main point is would it be worth it to do methods or just general instead so I can have more time to understand all the base topics more idkk bc isn't all the JMSS math n science things already harder than usual?? Idk if that makes sense.

    • Ronaldo As someone who went to JAC and got into JMSS, that tutoring was a absolute flop and I don't recommend it, apart from the teacher who was really nice, it didn't really help me at all. All the test's were completely over complicated and science reports were straight forward but you could easily find prompts with AI. I left all my studying last minute but as long as your doing well in school with Math and Science + some time management practise, skim over the Yr 9 & 10 curriculums and practise some report writing I don't believe you need a tutor.

    • Idk if that made sense but thats just my take on it

    • eee Adding on to that and to sum it up, don't answer the question just straight up. John Monash isn't looking for just smart people, your meant to think outside the box and prove why you deserve to go to the school. Like in the math exercise you don't really just do the question, you identify patterns etc

    • Harshil I also didn't receive many questions heavy on science but no matter what they ask you, you should probably elaborate on it further and to sum it up relate it back to science. Like when I got asked abt the science principle I related it to the career I want in the future (science related) but also my overall life...then when I started talking abt my life I incorporated how science is present in it blah blah blah, just yap but make it sound sciency, a bit serious abt your career and probably add in smt to make them cry even if its fake

      • LH44 Ig it all really depends, if your someone who wants a career within the field of science "long term" I think the school would be worth it. I found the best group of people and the closest friends I'll ever have who truly are perfect for me but ik my current school environment isn't right for me and my school just sucks academically and in general so ig another 3 year sacrifice of hard work will be worth it if that makes sense.

      • cshar It was soo freaking mid, I was stressing and printing it the night before so my ink was all black n white

        • OK DAMNN, maybe the guy just liked my personality lmao, oh and for whoever is trying out and get's a interview, don't act like a bot, just take it chill and smile a lot. From what I've heard JMSS is looking for people who aren't just smart but also have a personality + ig the students aren't really competing there but more a "community. idk cus I don't go there yet but yeaa

          • cshar no frr, it honestly just helped me stand out

          • Harshil I didn't have any science awards and never took part in comps so I put sry you missed it I think for anyone applying you have to really find a way to stand out no matter how you do it.

            • cshar damn you were right, I really don't know how, I pulled up in sweatpants and a black hoodie then saw everyone in their uniform and got a heart attack

              • cshar noo cus I legit did my edutest practise the night before

                • acedemic_achiver OH HELLL NOOO, I also attended JAC and It was absolutely useless and a waste of time (in my opinion). I would spend every lesson daydreaming and on TikTok, apart from the writing prompts which you could probably get from chat gpt, the tests they give you are way harder than the actual test. (I was getting below 50% for all my math tests and roughly 50-80% for the science ones. Your better off studying a general Yr 9 science curriculum and getting some edutest practice tests since their really similar. I only started studying 1-2 months before the exam date and cramming the night before. If your doing well in math and science at school there's really no point. Just work on time management.

                  • cshar Oh damn, really hoping they come out in September then bc when I went for my interview we asked one of the assistant principals and they said results would come out early October

                    • cyl_b To me someone confident but not too cocky, basically passionate about STEM/Science that is still humble, I believe they aim to build a "community" at JMSS instead of "competing" against other students, idk if that makes sense but yeah

                    • DV78 honestly focus on your school math n science curriculum, but edutest was good for the math numerical reasoning, and practise handwriting chat gpt science report prompts, basically time management is really important, and bring a watch to set a timer on bc that's where I messed up and had to rush my report.

                      • DV78 replied to this.
                      • .. hold up are we meant to be wearing uniform or free dress bc I'm lost
