  • I’m doing Literature 1/2, and im struggling with writing a close analysis. I can’t seem to move away from the structured format of Year 10 English, and just my analysis sounding so like a TEEL structure. When my teacher writes an example one, everything seems to flow so smoothly and build upon the previous sentence, but I don’t really know how to mimic it.
I’m also not sure if it’s because I don’t have a clear idea of my own interpretation (we’re analysing Edgar Allan Poe’s poetry). I enjoy annotating the poems and have so many notes, but I can’t seem to transfer that onto a close analysis.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Thanks for your response and advice 🙂

  • Hi, I normally don’t have a set routine after school to study, but I’m wondering whether I should
So what are your guys’ routine during school days and weekends?
Also, if you sleep early, how do you do it? I currently sleep at 12 or 1am, and I don’t know how to shift my night routine up earlier

I’m doing psych too! can I ask where you downloaded the practice exams for 3/4 psych?

      • Hi, I’m having a lot of doubts right now about Psychology, but I would really like to achieve a high study score as it’s my only 3/4 in Y11 so I’ll be able to focus on it, and I guess right now I just want some confirmation of sorts

        A bit of background info:
(I know SACs are really no indicator since the difficulty is different between schools but I have no other info to derive from) I’ve done very well in units 1/2, achieving 4 A+ and 2 As for SACs, getting 3 marks wrong max and 89% on the end of year exam. From what I heard from my classmates, some of them got 40% or 60% for some SACs. And I got an achievement award for Y11 psychology in my school, so I’m assuming I was the highest in my cohort.

So this has made me feel ambitious, and especially after starting a bit of the 3/4 psych textbook, I’ve started to really admire the subject and feel eager to learn more about it.

But after searching about what my school has got for psychology, I’m wondering whether a 45+ is possible. In general, only less than 15 students would get a 40+ ss in ANY subject in my school. In the past 6 years for psychology, 1 student got a 40, 3 got 42, and 1 got 43, the highest so far.

So I’m wondering, even if I’m rank 1 in my cohort, comparing to the rest of Victoria, would it be possible to get 45+ ss?

        • just curious to know what other people has prepared for each of their subject in terms of materials/ books, exercise books, folders etc

        • how did you know what your rank was?

          • Hi, I have a few questions about different VCE subjects that I’ll be doing

            1. I’ll be doing Psychology Unit 3&4. Is there anything I need to really prepare for before school starts? We had Headstart this year so we’re doing a bit of CH 3 for holiday hw. Along with doing practice questions, should I memorise definitions (which I did in unit 1/2 and it helped me do well)? It’s taking longer than I thought to be able to answer a question without eventually looking at my notes to find the wording. Is it necessary to memorise word for word for psychology?
            2. For Methods 1/2, what can I expect the year to look like? What I did in Headstart was very easy, like expanding and factoring, so I’m worried about at what point it’ll start to get much harder. How long does it usually take to go through one chapter in class? And how many chapters would a SAC usually consist of?
            3. Similar to my question about psychology, is it necessary to remember word for word for Economics?

In general, is there anything I need to prepare for my subjects? I’m doing
            • Psychology 3/4
            • Literature
            • Math Methods
            • Specialist Maths
            • HHD
            • Economics

            Thanks!!

          • I have a dilemma, I have to choose some of my subjects again for Y11 because of the timings and class issues

            Initially I chose:
            Literature
            Maths Methods
            Specialist Maths
            Psychology 3/4
            Biology
            Health & Human Development

However, I can’t have both Biology and HHD. Some other choices I would have to change into is:
            • Biology and Economics
            • HHD and Economics

Ultimately I have to choose Economics, although I didn’t choose this subject at all as my backup and so I have no idea about what to expect for this subject and whether I would have any interest in this class. Does it have a lot of memorisation? Or formulas, or writing? How are the SACs like?

For Biology, I only really chose it for the genetics, alleles, Punnett Squares etc, which I’ve been really interested in learning more about. However I don’t think I’ll find learning cells and other topics enjoyable for me.

For HHD, it was meant to be my “easy” subject to rest in. I’m not sure if I would find it entirely interesting, I just know there’s a lot of memorisation, which I can manage.

So I don’t know which combination of subjects would help me excel the best in VCE, so if you have any advice, please send them! 🙂)
