  • hey!! i'm in year 11 too and doing further 3/4, and trust me, my average is worse than yours (im in the high 80s, and your scores are really good!) and yet my teacher assured me that if i do well in the exam i can get even in the early 40s. ur scores are really good, i know someone who averaged 70s on his sacs and still managed to get a 43. i cant really give you any advice, but i suggest downloading reddit and asking them these types of questions as they know wayyyy better than i do. only thing i can say is that ur scores are super good and you have to smash out the exams and you will probably be fine! i'm not too sure about the ranking system unfortunately but all the best!

  • hii!!,

just like you, i'm also doing bio 1/2 and methods 1/2, along with 3/4 psych, 3/4 general math, 1/2 chemistry and english 1/2. i was also really worried about managing my time well and reducing stress, and so far i've found one way to do it, which is by batching my subjects. everyday i spend 2 hours each on two subjects (since i have 6 subjects i have 3 batches of two subjects) and i've found that not only does it allow for active recall every 1-2 days, but also less stress since i can focus on my 3/4 subjects without being stressed about 1/2 subjects. for example, today i'm studying methods for two hours and , and then two hours on chemistry. obviously you can spend more than 2 hours as you wish, but since i do extracurricculars, its more convenient for me to do 2 hours of study without a whole lot of stress.

as for methods, i was (still am) struggling, but working on it for 2 hours 3-4x a week has really really improved my ability to even do math (i'm literally a humanities/english person and literally was getting so bad in math last year).

also, my other tip would be to skip questions that are taking too long/too hard, and do them after finishing the rest of the exercise. i remember once i studied for four hours straight and lost all my motivation because in those 4 hours i only did about 5 questions because i was too busy doing the same question over and over again. i can't stress enough on how time saving it is to leave questions you find hard, preferably write them in a little notebook so even if you can't solve it even after finishing one exercise, you can talk it out with the teacher. my tips are so simple yet they drastically changed my life, because before i was literally studying randomly and all over the place, which caused me to stress so badly because i wasn't giving my subjects the same effort and time. sorry for rambling but i hope this helps somewhat.

  • hi!!

first of all, that is a huge achievement and you must have worked so hard for it. i wanted to ask if you have been always good at math before picking methods or did you study consistently until you got a hang of it? also, for SACs, how do you revise for them? did your school give out past practice SACs or was there an external website or resource you used?

sorry for the load of questions lol i'm aiming for a 45+ study score for methods in year 12, just want a little bit of guidance

yeah exactly I wanna use the pdf versions because i find it easier, but our teachers are apparently not allowed to give students the pdf versions of the new study design to us to ensure that we buy the new books 🙁

      • hi, i'm in year 11 doing 3/4 psych and 3/4 general maths, but since the study design has changed i'm not sure whether or not i should purchase the new books since their SUPER expensive,,,, obviously i don't mind spending money when it comes to education but if its gonna be just a few minor changes i'm really not sure if i should spend like $200 for two books, including my 1/2 books as well, which are also affected by the new study design...

can anyone tell me if i can survive the year with the past versions or is it absolutely necessary i get the new books???

        thanks 🙂
