Dr. Jess π Yeah, you can totally still get a high ATAR even if your Specialist PSMT flops a bit. Itβs only worth 20% of your final grade, while the external exam is a massive 50% β so the bulk of your mark comes from how well you go in the exam. If you get a C on the PSMT but pull an A in the external, you can still end up with a solid overall B+ or even an A, depending on how your other internals go.
Specialist also scales super well β in 2023, a B in Specialist could scale higher than an A in a lower-scaling subject. So as long as youβre killing it in your other subjects and exams (like Methods, Physics, or English), one dodgy PSMT wonβt tank your ATAR. Focus on smashing the externals β thatβs where the marks really count.
