hiii atarnotes! unfortunately, I didn't make the cut for mhs this year (im in year 8 and applied for year 9 entry). To be honest though, I'm not that mad (or as mad as some of you) because I never went to tutoring or studied at all for the test, but me getting rejected is kinda a wake up call for me.
i have a few questions for those more knowledgeable than me on this subject:
- would getting a scholarship at a really good private school (wesley, scotch, etc.) be easier or harder than year 10 mhs entry
- how many scholarships are typically granted for year 10 scholarship entry at a good private school?
- if im applying for an academic scholarship should i still aim to max out my extracurriculars? I currently have almost no extracurriculars other than playing clarinet in my school band for one year (not ameb certified though, YET). I was thinking about picking up a second language at VSL and starting rowing and sailing, along with a second instrument.
- is it too late for me to start tutoring? scholarship tests are typically held from february to march, iirc
I will still apply for year 10 entry next year for mhs and one of the other selective schools, however I believe that it's much more likely for me to get a scholarship at a really good private school (because mhs only has like 26 spots for year 10 entry, but pls correct me if im wrong and year 10 entry to mhs is less competitive than getting a scholarship at a good school).
schools that i will apply for a scholarship to:
- scotch college
- wesley college
- xavier college
so sad that i didnt apply for a haileybury scholarship π . I heard that the scholarship test was really easy and it seems like a really cool school ):
thanks for reading! im really sorry about the poor grammar and generally how this post is formatted, I haven't slept in two days π , im gonna go sleep now - hopefully i wake up to some good replies!! (:
side note: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE HONEST WITH ME
