JMSS Interview
what questions did they ask for the interview? just curious

The interview process consisted of 4 different sections.
Icebreakers:
The icebreakers was the first part of the interview. I believe were not being assessed on but was a great way to learn more about the people in the group and make yourself feel a lot more comfortable with them.
Group Interviews:
The group interview is a the section where you work together as a group to solve some questions together. You were given a random object for one of the activities, and working as a group to determine what that object was (my group got something similar to a suction cup thingy... It was quite random). For the second activity, we were given 10 million dollars to save an island. We were given a list of what items we could potentially purchase and we had to narrow it down to fit the budget. So as a group we decided what of those things were most important and what wasn't.
Tip: Make sure to contribute and show some sort of leadership skills whether it being encouraging someone to speak or getting the conversation started; I promise you that will make you stand out.
Mathematics:
Don't stress, but there is a maths part of the interview only lasting a 5 minutes or so. We were given a piece of paper with two problem solving questions. They weren't that hard but I found them quite time consuming. I don't believe that the problem solving contributed much to the interview but I am just guessing that they just want to see your thinking capabilities even after the test.
1 on 1 interviews:
This is the part where you sit down with another teacher and they ask you questions. Usually, these interviews only last for 5-10 minutes. Some of the questions I got:
- Why do you want to go to JMSS?
- What do you do on the weekends?
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
- What scientific invention has greatly impacted the world (Something similar to that)
Tips: The interviewers are very nice and they helped you answer if you felt uncomfortable. But be sure to smile and act friendly to make them feel that you are more approchable.
AND.. Make sure to practice. Ask yourself a bunch of questions in the mirror that are generic and that can help you get more comfortable; or even better, get someone and have them ask you questions just like the interview.
PS. Don't be afraid to take a pause, its better to take a pause and thing than actually saying something that is rushed.
