charl What's a movie you've previously watched, that you believe others should also watch? I've recently watched 'a silent voice' and I would most definitely recommend it to others.
hums_student Here to recommend foreign language films that don't get enough appreciation among English speaking audiences: The Hole / Le Trou (1960) - Shawshank Redemption with less money laundering, more digging, and the greatest set up to a jump scare in all of cinematic history. The Invisible Guest / Contratiempo (2016) - One of the most intense crime thrillers I've ever seen with an insane plot twist. The Lives of Others / Das Leben der Anderens (2006) - love this film because portrayal of modern German history in (mainstream) film is almost exclusively WWI/WWII - like um stuff happened after too? Downfall / Der Untergang (2004) - hypocritical of me to immediately recommend a WWII film but this is where the angry Hitler meme comes from so I'm obligated to include this on the list. Dying to Survive / Wǒ Bú Shì Yào Shén (2018) - you'll use a full box of tissues from laughing too hard in the first half and crying too hard in the second half. La Grande Vadrouille (1966) - the most fkn ridiculous and hilarious WWII movie you will ever watch in your life. Life Is Beautiful / La vita è bella (1997) - Imagine a romcom but it's set in a Nazi concentration camp and yes the ending will break you.
