I need help choosing a sixth subject as well as a 3/4 subject for year 11.

What subjects are you considering currently for your sixth subject, and what appeals to you about those subjects?

I would recommend to do Biology 3/4 in year 11 and do something else in year 12. A lot of people do this as bio is a very content heavy subject so you will have more time in year 11 to focus on that.

Are you intending to do 7 subjects (1 in year 11 + 6 in year 12) or 1 + 5?

I have been recommended for specialist maths but I am unsure whether to pick another heavy subject like spesh or a lightweight subject like extended investigation.

If you're meticulous and don't hate maths, picking up further maths (renamed to general maths 3/4 next year) and gunning for a 50 might be a good option. You can accelerate it in year 11 and still do very well, just avoid dumb mistakes

If you were to do specialist maths! (Spec or spesh for short)..... Then we'd both have the same subjects!

Can you share me any advice on self-study Bio 3/4? Any suggestion materials I need to buy? I want to have a head start.

I am doing 6 subjects (5 1/2 + 1 3/4 year 11 and then 5 3/4 in year 12). There are a limited 3/4 subjects we can do in year 11 so that is where I am unsure.

Psych is a good subject to accelerate in year 11.

The edrolo textbook is godly for bio! (Andrew Douch is amazing)

I just did the 3/4 (old study design), and did some work over the holidays. These were my notes:

Deff know ur organelles for the 3/4.

If ur doing the 1/2 - i hesitate to say this - but don't bother putting too much work in. Unless things have changed, so long as u get the gist - it will be fine. The 3/4's when u gotta sweat up!

Douchy's Biology podcasts are great too! Deff check them out.

I also did Meth 3/4 in y11 - which was good to get out of the way! But was very challenging..... So if ur decent at maths - I would recommend. (Like very decent)

I found Douchy Biology podcast is really good, different way of learning.
My school doesn’t allow yr 10 doing VCE, so i’m gonna take Biology 3/4 in Y11, skipping 1/2. I’m not too sure if they allow us to do 2 subjects 3/4. Regard Edrolo, I Will find out if school has it. If not, what other materials I need to have?
I’m aim 45 for Biology and need advice to achieve this.
