the unit 3 and 4 sacs (there are 5 of them) are worth 50% of the overall score. basically, with your sac average, you are compared to everyone else in your school cohort doing business, and ranked. my average is 90-smth, and i’m ranked 1, meaning that out of everyone doing business at my school, i have performed the best out of everyone.
then there is the exam. the exam is also worth 50%. when they are calculating your atar, they will only look at your rank number, not the actual percentage, and compare this to your rank for the external examination.
although sac’s give actual percentage scores, they are used to place you in a quartile compared to everyone else. hope that makes sense-
