Anyone have any idea when we get the first round of offers for vic selective?

The information pack says September to December but I was wondering if anyone is aware of an exact date?

Guys, Excited about the results ? Excited/Tensed/Relaxed ???

Did you guys find the entire exam difficult, or any particular one?

Anyro yeah i found numerical reasoning pretty difficult, i think most people thought that too

        Nossal High first round offer!

Congrats to everyone who received an offer today!

I'm literally so happy right now I'm about to cry

Hi, my daughter got a letter yesterday, that she could not obtain a place... But today morning she got a PD in macrob..
        Our preference was

        1. Macrob
        2. Nossal
          3.SC
I just want to know what to do...
          How to apply in PD
How to write portfolio that helps her to get in
She is not sports person but she is academically very well.
Anyone who can help me...we are living in Australia for 6 years.. Not familiar much with the education system here..๐Ÿ™
Is there any chance of getting in late offer to other first/ other preference school.

          IZM

          Congratulations!

          While the PD is quite competitive, I think that the best thing to be aware of at this stage is what to target in your portfolio. From my experience in similar selective programs/ leadership applications at my own school, the best things to highlight would be;

          • Extracurricular participation; student led clubs, being proactive, getting involved in your community inside and outside of school.
          • Leadership experience: make sure to highlight how this has affected you and qualities you learnt that will help you in applying. Debating/ public speaking history would be a good thing to mention as well
          • Academic excellence and love of learning: this should be demonstrated not just in test results/ tuition, but in a general attitude that they should be able to gauge through your application and hopefully interview.
In terms of the process, my understanding from my research involves the written application/ portfolio possibly followed by an interview (which involves its own layer of preparation)

These are some good resources as well:

As well as the information available on the selective schools website and information pack. It would also be good to contact the schools directly if you have any further questions.

ATARnotes also has some great resources for writing application letters so make sure to check that out too!

Congratulations again and good luck with your application!

IZM Salma covered everything really well. Basically, as long as your daughter is doing something outside of school and has been doing so for a long time with passion, that should be great. Some advice would be to show confidence, team working skills and leadership during the interview as this will give her a higher chance of making it into the interview. Showing creativity is also really useful as most people who appear to these interviews aren't really/don't show much of their creativity but rather their academic prowess which, trust me, is not that important in this interview. Good luck to her and I hope she does well!
