Hi all,
I have put biomedical science as 4 & 5 preferences for unis and hopefully get into medicine via the postgraduate route if I don't get into undergraduate medicine. Although I have done some research into biomed, I'm still not 100% sure what exactly biomedicine entails and future career options are (if I end up not doing medicine/don't get into postgraduate medicine). Is it more biology, chem or physics based? How much course work is involved? Or if I should just opt to do another undergraduate degree in general?

Thanks.

From what I've heard on line / from friends:

  • If in victoria, do it at monash - because melb uni will accept you as well. Monash won't accept melb uni graduates for their post-grad med course.
  • It can be better to do a general science course - so u still have options if u dont get in
  • If you muck around for a year in your degree - and get bad marks, it can damage ur chances at getting in. Even if u make up for it in the following years...

However these are just rumours, and perhaps someone else can clarify more.
Hope this helps!
